Wow!, just wow Michael. The sixteen fiddy is one of my favorites. But that jacket! is it old? When was something like this common? You always make a fashion statement in my morning feed.
Thanks Red. I'm not sure how old the jacket is but I might guess from the 60s. It is a custom job done by Alexandre and judging by the stamps on the label I think it was done in their hand tailoring shop. I believe it was some sort of club jacket as you can barely make out where a crest of some sort was sewn on the breast pocket. It's insulated with a Milium lining, which I think one started to find ads for in the late 40s and the ads seem to have ended sometime in the 60s, though the product may have still been available after that. It's a very heavy Melton wool.

One of the coldest mornings we have had here in Oregon so far. Arctic blast coming from Alaska. My PT appointment for my broken hand is first thing this morning. I will be wearing my black overcoat for the first time this season. The nearest hat that comes to hand is my Wilson homburg in a beautiful heather finish. No time for a current photo, I'll have to get back into the habbit!

Love that hat, Red. Beautiful felt and great style and size. Hope the PT does the job for you hand.

Thanks,
Michael

Fun in Denver today. Beaver Brand 10X quality (whatever that means).

New to me Royal Stetson. I picked this up on eBay about a month ago, and have worked to address the staining on this well-worn, light colored hat. Thanks to a vinegar solution and a toothbrush, much of the staining has been mitigated. It's had a naphtha bath, but I'm still working on trying to get so5 ribbon stains out.

The pleated ribbon is a nice touch, and the felt is excellent. Soft and very malleable.

Cool brim stitching, too.

That's a gem, Jim. Looks like you've been doing a good job on the cleaning. That ribbon is top drawer and the brim stitching is a super add.

Doing a Belgian waffle on this one... seller thought 1930s, I thought 1950s - European hats are often tough to pin down - pre-war and post war production values can be similar. But the only reference I can find to the importer David L. Cohn in Cleveland, Ohio is from a 1916 reference. So maybe...
Note the size correlation is between English and French sizes, not U.S.

Either way Alan, that is one beautiful hat wonderfully worn.
A good reason why European hats are hard to pin down is that a lot of pre-war materials were left on the shelf during WWII, then used again post war.
Btw, isn't that too big a size for you?
