Got mine in a little late this year but I checked today and I ought to be frying by next week. If you can find some, try it on the grill by splitting it down the middle seasoned with a little olive oil, salt and pepper, cooked just short of a char.
That sounds good! Today I have so many large Jalapenos, my wife splits them in two, fills them with a mixture of goat cheese and cream cheese, and coats them with panko bread crumbs. These will be for cocktail hour!

That's how we do it around here. Great hat choice today Greg!

You're welcome.
Crazy price for all that hat. What age are we talking about?

There are others better qualified, Steve but I would say post war, pre-50's. Royal was a quality level at $10 and Royal Deluxe at $12.50 was the next step up. The only other Royal I owned was a 50's Whippet and the felt was good but not quite to the level of this hat. Size tag, no plastic/cellophane liner tip and labeling are what lead me to think this is a hat from the late 40's. I'm lucky enough to have a Royal Deluxe OR from a few years later that has the same amenities, the biggest difference is the sweat.

Wow, that vintage. Looks as good as new, Greg. Truly a hat worthy of any collection.

Before I mention the thread subject Ill talk about yesterday's new hat (and I AM WEARING IT now), the light grey, almost ghost like ... hmmmmm, St. Regis. It hasnt even had a good brushing yet, by I felt called to groom it a little this morning. A mite of leather conditioner followed by the hat stretcher eased those old bones, a lot like when I hook into the inversion table, then a good pat down with packing tape helped it's complexion. But steam, just a minor steam, enough that she could sense my affection, set her st ease ( I considered singing Baby It's Cold Outside, but the season was wrong).
I think she likes me!

The ghost didn't really belong in this thread though. She was an after hours obsession.
I stepped out on old plastic smile even earlier though. I was driving by anyway, so thought a quick cruise of the Thrift Store was in order.
I'm about neck deep in hats already, so the new policy is that I'm only there for the rare treasure Howard Hughes great grandaughter donated without knowing what she was doing --- the cleanest hat he ever owned!
Unfortunately, I've never been much of a policy wonk. I got sucked in by another curiosity!
I like the colors and the vents. I want to cut the wired brim down and redeem this one.

But Steve (aka: H&RH), $10, at the THRIFT STORE?

I admit to making better deals than this one.
