Cav 100 I've been dry creasing into something other than the cattleman, just for fun.

You did very wel with that one, Michael. Looks good on you.
Thanks Stefan. It has a few bug chews, but it did clean up pretty nicely.

Dang, I like that hat. Very unique look there.

Nora - Hüte Wien possibly 1950s. The Velour on this hat is fantastic but I have no idea of the source. Could have been from older stock. I wasn't able to find anything on Nora - Hüte Wien so probably a very small operation. I have had this hat for a while but decided to replace the lower quality sweatband.

That is a really beautiful velour on that one, Steve. A great shape to it, too. Great hat.

Fun times!!
Bet your fingers had a nice day!
Outstanding!

Thanks, B. It is fun playing with the ones you don't have to steam to get them to move.

I do that with one of my Steson 100s. I think that particular hat looks better that way.

Thank you, Michael. I wish my Stetson 100 could be manipulated this way but it's one of the stiffer ones. I'm gonna leave this one as is for awhile.

Excellent brim and ribbon treatment!

Thank you, Eric. It's all a direct result of the treatments on your charcoal Gannon. I shamelessly copied it.

Very cool, Greg. Great shape and outstanding brim curve.

Thanks, Stefan. This hat was made exactly to my specs as a 2 3/4 X 5 3/4 snap brim with a fairly deep flange. I put a diamond crease in it but was never quite satisfied with the shape of the hat and the brim was quite floppy and I stopped wearing it. I finally opened the crown up and ironed the brim flat. With the help of steam, my spritz bottle and the edge of a 5 gal. Home Depot bucket, using my fingers I put a slight curl in the brim, which gave it more stability and the resulting shape. It cost me a little in brim width, down to 2 5/8 but with the center crease I put in it, it's much more wearable to me now.

Many years ago I bought a Stetson Whippet. It was inexpensive and made in Australia. I was very excited to have a venerable Whippet on my hat rack. Weeks later it finally arrived in a flat pack. Squished flat into the envelope I found the brown hat pictured below. A licensed Stetson Whippet trilby made in Australia. Not my fav look, but certainly a one of a kind!

Out later moving leaves in a vtg. Stetson Stratoliner. I appreciate the 2 7/8" brim for wind and blowing leaf protection. This "yard hat" sees hard work and it continues to be ready to go to "town."
