B.E. 1858 on thisvery cold morning.
Makes sense that these little "colonies" of folks from the same area are common, as it would be much less daunting to make the trip to America (in itself an ordeal) if you were going somewhere that there were people you knew and trusted when you got there. A support structure already in place, as it were.
Funny story...the guy that complained about the Peto heat told me that when he went home to visit he spent the first week of his month vacation sick as a dog. Apparently, one of the first things he did when he got home to Mom's house was to drink a big glass of water from the kitchen faucet. Never thought he could get la turista. I told him that in his heart he was still Mexican, but his guts had turned Gringo.
FantasticNo. 1 Quality with a 1958, $13.95 sale tag under the sweat.

Fantastic
You put an accent in Michoacán! Excellent, Brent.Where I’m at right now it seems as if most of the Mexican nationals I meet are from Michoacán. They are a vibrant and much needed part of the community. They’re also the reason I’ve gained twenty pounds since I moved here.

Really like that back bow. I've been looking for one in my size for a loooong time. I did find a good one on ebay last year...but it was advertised the wrong size! Had to send it back. It's melting.... MELTING... MELTING!!
No better weather for this circa 1950 Royal De Luxe Stetson, over a late 1960s Pendleton.

I like the Cognac OR.It’s not a fit for the thread, but this is where most of us hang out:
Stetson just released the 2019 Fall City (fedoras, etc.) catalog. Not many open crowns.

Now that you mention Michoacán, as I recall most of the Mexican nationals I knew when I lived in Calistoga were from there. And yes, great people who make great food!Where I’m at right now it seems as if most of the Mexican nationals I meet are from Michoacán. They are a vibrant and much needed part of the community. Yes, that's what I saw too.Am I reading it right? It looks as if the Royal De Luxe OR has been discontinued and the Royal OR is listed as “Firm” felt.

Hahaha! I never thought of that! Isn't it amazing that the Mayan people survived into modern times? They have a particular, lovely sing-song accent when speaking Spanish. Now that you mention Michoacán, as I recall most of the Mexican nationals I knew when I lived in Calistoga were from there. My little town has now a large and thriving Latino community. It went from just a few people here and there that came up here to work in the woods and the fisheries, and later the hospitality industry, to now, 40 years later and they are buying homes, opening businesses, and bringing new life into what was a slowly dying, stagnating little town. And, the regional cuisine of Yucatán is pretty dang good. Better if you can handle the heat of Habanero chiles...
Plus, if you work in a kitchen with Yucatecos, you get to learn some really good cuss words in Mayan...
Yeah, I did the same thing! I showed up here wearing my hats with the brim up. I kept hearing BOB!So this is the man, the myth, the legend. Finally, I can put a face to a name. After seeing all the references I spent some time last weekend digging through old posts to find out what exactly shook down.
