What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Such a good looking thin ribbon. Quite the find, there.
Thanks, Greg. The day I won it, I was in disbelief. I had seen a few hats with this or a similar color combo and figured I'd have to get a custom to scratch that itch. To get it in this particular rare model made me ecstatic. Definitely one of my "top ten."

Which, incidentally, is a thread I need to contribute to. So little free time, it seems.

Yeh I dunno, just to annoy it went and got cold today. Climate change though yup, no brainier at this stage. Daffodils on Christmas day, nature's stupidest plant. We'll still use every drop of oil. The human race is quick. You look great man.
Thanks Karl. I see the blue Borsalino is still looking top notch. I could go for some daffodils today. I went out to survey the yard this morning and I see that some deer were knocking on my front door last night. Guess they would have eaten the daffodils had they been there.

Windchill only -20 F (-29 C) so far. This Harris Tweed Stetson worked for a 10 minute survey of the yard.

It won't do for when I go walkabout later and get into the wind proper.

May have to find a coat to throw on too.

Have a good one,
Michael

Spectacular!
Thanks Perry

Beautiful hat Daniele!!
It reminds me very much of their vintage Angora.
Another of your countless beauties!
Bowen
Thanks Bowen. "Angora" denomination is widely used in the USA market, here, the same felt, has no name. This hat has not the "Angora" printed on the sweatband, the EU Borsalino sold has no that indication

That is a beauuutiful color, Daniele. I like the proportions also.
I agree Max the color ifs fantastic, this was the main reason I bought it. Thanks

Thank you, Karl and did I mention how good it is to see you around here?

I could do with that ear protection. The forecasted snow never arrived. But it's cold, the air here makes it cold type thing. Never figured it out but -10 in Germany feels about +3 in Dublin. I got to experience 45-50 near Claremont, inland California, a few months back. I googled 'hotest recorded temperature ever', and my suspicions were confirmed, damn hot. Still, although it didn't agitate my age related arthritis I was glad I had a rental with A/C.

To be honest I mostly wore a wolly hat today, but met a friend for a beer just there in this. Forgive the lighting. Grey stubby borsalino, really unusual hat, lined in purple satin, so satin sweat, felt like clay.

Royal Luxury Wormser. It was a Goodwill find. The sweat was demolished, and the felt looked pretty bad, but for the price, I decided to buy it and take it to Ignacio.
He did a pretty good job.

Lookin' great, Max!!

You may already know this, but if not, and you didn't think you'd learn anything new today, here goes...
Probably not an issue for you or you or you would have already noticed on other hats, but the sweatband looks like it may be one of those that some folks are allergic to, with traces of di-chromate. If you test as described HERE, you may detect that content, indicating a lesser quality material. Most hatters aren't aware of it any more, but you can specify vegetable-tanned roan leather, which is more appropriate for a man like you anyway!!

Are we betting on this?!

Out doing a little more snow shoveling this morning in what will be my last hat with a brim for the next few days.

It was close to 30 degrees and calm when I started shoveling and around 15 degrees with a wind gusting to 28 mph by the time I finished.

And this morning's outerwear will become my base layer for the next few days as we plumb for record lows.

Have a great day,
Michael
The hat looks like it could take some snow, Michael. But better be on the safe side (and stay indoors).

The number of "hairy hats" to wear is decreasing

Borsalino made for US market and bought there two years ago

Color is "Amarena" and I don't remember the type. Size is 7 3/8 or 59 cm.

The proportions are those requested by the American market: high crown and adequate brim with also the wind cord
View attachment 153949
The felt is very beautiful, soft and finished with a short hair of a color that is called in Italian "black cherry"

The best rendition of the color is in the shade, but in the sun you see the Lustre of felt.
Thanks a lot for the likes on the Mossant "Gris Orage" (stormy grey) one of the best denomination of a color in the world of hats.
Compliments and congratulations for the hats I saw on your heads everyday, they are a reference to doing my part as hats European agent in a very good company with Stefan and the immense Steve
That felt looks sooooo beautiful. Stunning hat, Daniele.
