If it were my hat, I think I'd leave the Flechet a Long Hair. It looks pretty good that way, IMO.
Terry thanks for your suggestions, but this hat

is a little bit too "wild" to have a satin ribbon.
I have the utmost faith in my hatter and above all I like to experiment
I have a question and a suggestion for your last black Borsalino conversion: I would like to see it with a simple center dent and very pronounce pinches. You have a lot of crown and brim to do that and it could be, in shape, like the pre WWII

Ha! Yeah, it does look a little wild but I like it that way. That's just me, though. We all have our preferences and I'm sure that whatever you decide you want done with it, it's going to come out looking really nice.

I'm still kind of deciding which way I want to go on the black Borsa. I might even try your suggestion and see how that works out. Although I'd need some pictures of some pre WWII Borsas to help give me an idea of what I'm going for.

I had not really considered a silver mist. After seeing yours I’m gonna have to give it some thought.

Thanks, guys. The silver mist is a nice color. The felt is awfully stiff, though. Much more so than on the other hat I got from Northwest.

My Gannon Silver mist is kinda stiff, too. Must just be the dye process at Winchester.

Donned a slightly refurbed Dobbs Hanover Square for a quick run to the PO.

Sent directly from my mind to yours.

Bill, Jay, Fruno; My experience with silvermist has been anything but like that of a stiff dress felt. I have a VS lightweight silvermist that is exactly what you would expect from an Art Fawcett lightweight - lightweight, evenly pounced with artistic ribbon work.

Pictured here is a Gannon that was "lightened" by Michael.

His pouncing made the 6" crowned hat light and easy to take a snap brim shape or change side dents.

Here is a silvermist Gannon with a smaller crown, 5.5" with charcoal ribbon treatment.

Admittedly these are not the stock silvermist, but it does show that the hat maker has choice when it comes to the felt. Both hatters admitted that silvermist is a challenging hued felt hood to work with.

I hope I have added to the conversation.

Best, Eric -

Kevin McAndrew Western for me today. This is a gift from a fellow Lounger. I have no plans to convert this one. I like the style so well that I left it mostly as is. The only changes I made was to curl the brim to my liking and I took out the mule kicks that were in the front and back of the crown crease. I always liked this casual working man's style of Western. I'll have more pics of the hat itself later.

Still drying after making some minor adjustments...

Fish fur...from a Mullet? :D
Could be mullet. Warm is what I wanted it to be, because I wasn't wearing it for the halibut. Or just because I was coddling myself. I didn't want to go walleyed from the northern wind that came down the pike and netted us 6 or so inches of snow yesterday.

Great look for you today with the Habig and peacoat. Nice pairing.

Michael
