Modestly proportioned Wormser (2 3/8" brim) for a Friday.

Taking advantage of some morning sunlight while choosing hats. The Borsalino Ghiaccio won for the hat du jour.

I really like that first one too.

It's the perfect autumn day here for this late 20s/early 30s Samuel Mortlock and son Lord's hat. It's a real joy to wear.

Back under the new Sixteen Fifty for now. I gave it a bit of a steam and brush this morning.

Glad to see your hat finding mojo is still working. Nice one!
Thanks Bob. The mojo works now and then, but not as often as it used to.

Great outfit Michael.
Thanks Perry. The shirt and tie were finds from yesterday, too. West Wool brand snap front shirt and handmade wool tie, both courtesy of half price day at my favorite thrift.

Thanks all,
Michael

I tried to stay away from temptations, but the other day we were, Steve and I, in Merano by the current owners of the hats sold in the shop (now closed) "M. Hutter".

I did not bring enough money to buy hats, but then I suddenly became a sinner

Borsalino "Uranio" Qualità Extra Superiore. Size 6 1/2

The shapes and proportions are related to Italian hats made in the sixties

Felt is soft and very malleable. What I particularly like is the tone-on-tone ribbon that is, for me, the plus of this Borsalino

Quite an interesting Lord's Hat, that simple ribbon treatment is not as formal as you normally see on these. Lovely color. I suppose the felt is equally wonderful.
Thanks Red. The ribbon is indeed very understated, but fits well with the look of the hat. The autumn light brought out the auburn hue of the chocolate brown felt, which is, as you surmised, wonderful. It has a velvet like feel to it.
A big thanks again to Daniele for knowing my taste in hats.

Go and sin more Daniele. The shape and proportions are perfect on that one

Wearing another of my conversions this a.m. This is a Bradford Westerner 7X Quality, (whatever that meant in the world of Bradford). This is another Western hat that I took completely apart some weeks ago and converted it to an OR / Strat clone. I can tell you that hand sewing literally sucks, especially when hand sewing a brim binding this narrow! A few different angles...

I need a specialized sewing machine for this kind of stuff!

All done! Ribbon and Brim Binding completed!

A few tunes from the "First Lady" of Rock and Roll...
