Old Black Resistol. Used to be a cattleman crease but had Nathaniels of Georgetown add a new sweat, liner, install a thin brim ribbon, and give it a bit of a mini-gus crease. Fits like a dream now. View attachment 177304 View attachment 177305 View attachment 177306 View attachment 177307
Dang, just saw my photos. Not sure why they came out so bright. The hat is pure black but show like it has lint all over. ??? Oh, well maybe I need a new phone the camera on this one really sucks.

Now there's a hat we all need in our rotation.....sun visor to boot. Very cool Michael ;)
Thanks WK. I got this one at a thrift, but I think you can still buy them for under $10 at Tractor Supply and other stores of that nature.

Your refurbed Resistol today looks great. It's really hard to get good photos of a black hat.

Thanks,
Michael

The humidity is equal to the temps this morning. I am doing outside chores and am now wearing a soaking wet t-shirt. Totally yukky weather. Since I needed to move mulch under some trees and evergreens I am wearing a felt hat to protect my head from limbs.

A vintage Air Command, Penny's Marathon in a glorious blue felt was my hat choice. This is a terrific value in a hat in it's day. Excellent appointments, felt and quality. The felt is gloriously malleable. A center dent, a diamond - no effort just put them in. The taller crown and big brim (2 7/8") give the hat some character and versatility.

A pleated liner is a classy appointment. The leather sweat is excellent quality. The binding edge has more ribbon on the top than the bottom - cool. The workmanship is excellent. The stitches while not as fine or close as a couple of my other "like" hats are just well done.

It will sit on a block and have the leather sweat conditioned later today.

No more felt today. :( Straw only in this weather.

Best, Eric -

Man, Eric, you're definitely in command with that Penney's Marathon Air Command. Really nice! Stay cool up there. It's gonna be felt for me too for an outdoor stage pretty soon...

All that local exposure, you'll have to run from the ladies now! Great representation for us all!

We can only hope; that’s my favorite kind of exercise!

I hope the 2pm news that nobody watches does at least help draw a crowd for this evening’s show.

Your montecristi looks great! Super ribbon color— and better than a pug I think.

This is Day #2 of the excessive heat warning that will run thru the weekend. Drank some cold brew on the veranda this morning wearing my Herbert Johnson Monticristi Panama.

That's one very nice looking MonteCristi, Jack. Stay cool out there. Frightening heatwave hitting parts of the USA this week.

There's a lot to like with that one, HJ. Profile, brim, weave, sweat and the ribbon color is excellent. Never saw a pug I preferred over a ribbon.
Thanks BB. Although probably not my style, I have seen some pattern pugs that I like & especially some made from old neckties. Bob @ BSHW does some of that. Pokadots don't do anything for me & never had any interest in plain black or chocolate.
