Cervo "Bantam Gold" "Piuma" possibly mid to later 1950s. This one was made exclusively for M. Hutter Merano and is NOS. There is a lot going on with this hat detail wise and the felt is fantastic. This hat is from Daniele's and myself's October 2018 visit to the M. Hutter Merano, Italy Hat Find. Click on Photos!

Late teens/early twenties Italian velour in transitional style. Exported to the German Market, very deep tight centre crease and handsome back bow.
Wayne, Super! Raffaele Valenza & C. di Paolo Rossi & C. was one of the Intra, Italy Hat Factories. I am not aware of any other Italian Velour Hat here that is this old plus the only R. Valenza & C. so very rare. Intra is near the Swiss boarder and Alpine so more likely to produce Velour. Daniele and I visited the Museo dell’Arte del Cappello di Ghiffa (Panizza) back in March, 2017 which is nearby Intra. This is an R. Valenza & C. advert card from the collection. The hat in the advert is a similar Back Bow and could be a Velour (probably from the same time period).

Here is some additional information from the Museo dell’Arte del Cappello di Ghiffa collection.

- Valenza Raffaele & C.
- founded in 1890 in ZOVERALLO - destroyed by a fire in 1902 and rebuilt in 1902 n Intra in Corso Garibaldi (Via Canna) in 1902 it became PAOLO ROSSI and C. In 1919/20 it employed 172 employees.

Can you please post this hat here when you get a chance? Thanks!

I have been enjoying a refreshingly cool morning in Minnesota.

A vtg. Stetson Stratoliner (cadet blue) was the perfect pairing in the low 60'f temps. (The pic that most accurately shows the hue of Cadet Blue is the portrait pic.)

After a couple of morning yard chores and a dog walk I have switched hats. My unlined Stetson Playboy in gray/blue continues the blue theme this morning.

Enjoy your morning folks. Best, Eric -

I love the cadet blue, Eric. How do you think the color compares to Winchester’s powder blue? Light blue is an easy color to get wrong.

Beautiful Nembo. Great outfit.

Great hat and jacket. Looks like comfortable weather there.

That hemp makes a fine looking hat. I've heard it has other uses too. Might have to look into that one of these days. Great summer look.

Thanks Reggie. If it's hot as, might as well wear some GTH pants.

Thanks,
Michael

Yep, some GTH pants [emoji23] and put some hemp in your pipe! All the makings for a grand old time.

Went out for some espresso and to listen to blues/jazzacoustic fingerstyle music late morning. A vtg. Stetson OR was my hat of choice. Home again for some lunch.

An Akubra Campdraft (BG FL version) is my hat of choice for making some grilled catfish in tacos.

Best, Eric -

Great outfit for your espresso jazz brunch. Your jacket, tie and shoes really harmonize with that camel colored Stetson.

Lovely color this vintage blue. Sir, the powder blue (modern Winchester beaver samples I recieved from Art Fawcett several years ago) is paler and of a different hue. The cadet blue of the Stetson hat is very close to the US Air Force cadet blue. I had it next to my Dad's uniform when he passed this past year and it was almost spot on.

Small trip for coffe and cigar on this windy and rainy Saturday with my Agnoulita custom

On the way back I came across this one. Trilbys is not my cup of tea but it was too cheap to resist ;) Not sure about the age, but the condition is great, hand is very soft (I guess wool) and features a slightly longer nap (something between suede and velour I would say). The only thing I know is that is made in Sweden, pretty well made for my eyes I would say. Color is dark blue.

Nice start to the day, Panos. Super looking Agnoulita. Congrats on the trilby find even if it's not quite to your taste. It has a good shape and look to it. The ribbon and bow are very attractive. I'd guess 60s. Cool find.

Enjoy the music Michael. You look spiffy again today.
Thanks Eric. The music today was most excellent and all local talent. And every bit on par with the national acts we saw over the last two days. We have a deep vein here and it's all gold. Loved the blue OR and the cadet blue you wore yesterday? And the brown OR, and every other hat you wear. ha ha.

Yep, some GTH pants [emoji23] and put some hemp in your pipe! All the makings for a grand old time.

Now that sounds like a plan.

Lots of hats out at the show today.

Those guys were playing some real vintage jazz. I think the newest song they played was written in 1931.
The only photo of my hat today

But here is me at home after 3 days of music.

Feeling a little frizzed. After the last act ended today a little old lady who had been sitting across the sidewalk from me for most of the show came over and thanked me for my contribution to the culture of Iowa City. Ha ha. I got a photo of these two guys

In between acts a lady walked up from one direction with one of the guys in the saxophone shirts and the other guy came from the other direction. They had never met before. So she had me take a photo of them all together on her phone. And then one of me with them. They introduced themselves to each other afterwards and both were named Mike. So 3 Mikes. Be careful what you name your kids. I guess.

Have a good evening, I think it's about bedtime here,
Michael

Thank you Steve! Vintage market is quite limited around here, so the cool factor is higher, even for hats that I wouldn't usually go for.
