Hot time in Funkytown today. After a day off to celebrate, I'm back at trying to "keep 'em flying."

Or at least developing a spreadsheet to help me keep track of several projects so that I can take them to an approval board, beg for funding, and implement changes to help them keep flying longer. Or something like that.

That hat is a high flyer to me, so you succeeded with that one, Jim.

Back from work early today found me moving mulch in a coated straw hat. The on and off again rain and humid conditions make this hat a great choice. The Peoples Clothing Co. in Boone, IA sold the correct hat for today. The logo of "Styles of Tomorrow" was well planned and executed. Planning nearly 80+years in advance is remarkable.

I need to run an errand to our local butcher shop and changed to an unlined vtg. Stetson Playboy in a gray felt. Light weight rules in 78'f and 70' humidity! Warm, but not uncomfortable on the head.

Best, Eric -
The styling on that straw is stunning, Eric. The Playboy is another gem of your wondrous collection.

Last two days involved a Stephen Stetson soft crown derby/lords hat. Really unusual and I often wear it with a front pinch. Black seemed like the only thing that could be worn with that bright yellow shirt.

Also, the Falcon Park Virtuoso is about as festive as I get with “independence day “ attire.
My jeans are blue.

I applaud the amount of restraint you managed not to put a crease in that Stephen Stetson! Nice curves on that one.

Thanks. I really often do, as the crown appears to have been built for it. It tends to bounce right back like a quality fedora, different from even the lighter weight 60s-70s bowlers that are not stiff like earlier ones. A little difficult to describe.

Man, I adore that 3X! After I saw your initial post I may have serendipitously performed a fruitful search and one may be on the way. Crossing my fingers for a good fit.

One of a few hat projects I have in the works, butt ugly 3X Resistol "Cascade". The hat was originally purchased from "Rod's Western Palace" in Columbus, Ohio which is about 15 minutes by freeway from where I live. I've been to that store plenty of times. Anyway, I plan to keep it Western but I don't know if I'll be keeping the hat since I'm not personally partial to the Whiskey color. Everything original to the hat, and especially the sweat, is in very good condition and will be reused.

Late teens/early twenties Italian velour in transitional style. Exported to the German Market, very deep tight centre crease and handsome back bow.

Another very nice set.

So jazzy. You look like you're ready for it, Michael.

Thanks Steve. I had to lighten the clothes load due to the heat, but the boater made the cut.

That looks really good. You know, I've always thought of myself as the most unlikely candidate for a boater, but you're selling it there.
You should definitely get one, or more, Jeff. It's one of my favorite summer hat styles.

At the festival,
