That is one hard to decipher handwriting. Not sure if it's French, or something else. Could have been written by the hotel concierge or the guest wherever he came from.I can't really make it out myself, Steve. You Europeans are polyglots. A mystery and a marvel to me you can speak so many dissimilar languages and learn them so quickly.
I've had several European patients that learn Mexican Spanish (the clearest and most beautiful IM not-so-HO) almost perfectly within six months.[emoji2]
Besides, I don't like French.

I believe it's all to do with what country your country has a border with, Max. We native English speakers think we don't need to learn another language because our neighbours, if we have them, speak English. The UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand for example. Plus, English is the franca lingua of our modern world just like latin was a few 100 years ago.I can't really make it out myself, Steve. You Europeans are polyglots. A mystery and a marvel to me you can speak so many dissimilar languages and learn them so quickly.

Love the color of this old OR.
You are truly going all high class on us Bowen! Such an interesting homburg, well detailed. You never cease to amaze!View attachment 172038 View attachment 172039 View attachment 172040 View attachment 172041 Greetings All:
Today....back to Homburgs after a few days of regulars. This one is one of the most comfortable hats i own and 1 of 2 by this brand. The other one rates up there in comfort as well.
A bit of an odd ball brand for a Homburg but the felt of both are quite irResistolble.
The detail of the embroidered liner tip is unbelievable!
Be well. Bowen
Great lines and a super finish Steve. I think it highlights the grey stubble well.I'm thinking, maybe we should start a thread called - What hat are you wearing this evening? - Anyway, this is the one I'm wearing. Long haired Lock & Co Bowler. It goes with my unkempt, grey stubble.

Very unusual and beautiful hat Max. The "banana coffin" is just the coolest thing. Love everything about this one. I agree that the brim would look better with a fedora like curl. You reminded me I haven't worn or posted my new-to-me Willoughby Tuxedo Hat, Alan.
It also came on a coffin. The box seems really large.
It too was very rumpled, but Ignacio spiffed it up for me. I doubt it was ever even worn. It was absolutely clean. Very, very black. I had to take some inside pics so that some of its shape can be seen. The felt is very soft. Magnificent!
There is an interesting paper label on the bottom of the box.
What do you think, Alan, Steur, Steve(s), Alex, everyone?

Super nice hat to just be "pickin" in. What a show of class Jack.Stetson One-hundred. Been pickin' on the porch. My a...fanny is draggin', the barometric pressure must be falling. "Feelin' Haggard."

Best color combo for a duelist! Love it.
Very nice Bill. Have you matched up the dating with the addresses from the Hatted Professor site? Early 50s?
Wow, Bill, another excellent Panama straw! Love that pug!

Shouldn't you be able to ryme by now?For the past two weeks, I've been wearing my HJ Poet across America and in the Redwoods!
Great shape to that one, and the ... Claret? ... Pug is perfect. Thanks Red.
Supposed to be very summer like here today. And it's starting out that way with a T-storm. Looks like the bulk of it is slipping by just southwest of me, and by just I mean about 20 blocks. Melvin Panama before the rains started.

I like a man that knows how to hedge his betsLove that dualist! I’m having Art do up one for me in sand (I think). Appropriate for the sandy rock I live on. Nice one!!

Not that obscure...Is that a real Sears straw fedora, or a Mexican Sears straw fedora?
(Obscure reference)

I think it's fantastic, Max. The delivery address alone is enough to know this was a high end hat. Nice piece of history. You reminded me I haven't worn or posted my new-to-me Willoughby Tuxedo Hat, Alan.

I think the name is Monsieur Buttles or could even be Buttler. The Hotel Ritz part is very clear. Underneath there is the original order: 1 smoking noir. 1 berét feutre.I can't really make it out myself, Steve. You Europeans are polyglots. A mystery and a marvel to me you can speak so many dissimilar languages and learn them so quickly.

Superb, Bill. Don't know how you do it each time.
