Unseasonably cold weather, including waking up to a light frost this morning. Took advantage of the temps to christen the longhair green Dobbs:

Got some dimensional specs, hoping to get detailed interior shots after dinner. Capturing the color is proving to be quite difficult. Today turned into an overcast day.

Brims up or down?
Wow, I'm loving that one. Looks great.

Finding yellows/blondes already in MN? Just starting to find them around here. I figure I have another 7-10 days in the season. Been a strange one this year.
I'm in Iowa these days. I think it is probably around peak season here. I have three growing in my yard and we've never found them there before.

Thanks,
Michael

I started Yesterday morning with my buckaroo whiskey derby, but then my repaired new Texas Hatters derby arrived and it had to take over for awhile.

Oh my! I like that Dobbs a lot. I’m thinking brim up too, and that surprises me. I’ll be looking to the additional photos.

I agree. After being out and about most of the day and wearing both ways I'm leaning towards brims up too. I can't explain it but it just seems right.

Thanks, Michael! The hat definitely is a looker.

Sorry, I thought you were in MN for some reason. I found two greys in my yard yesterday when I was cutting the grass. Nearly mowed them over. The wife would not have been happy. I don't eat them, but I love getting out into the woods and hunting them. Wish I had your moxie to wear something vintage into the woods. Instead I wear a, gasp, camo baseball cap.

I regret not buying that one. Lovely hat.

Thanks, Doc! Definitely got lucky on this one. I may have giggled when I first opened the box and saw the color. Now I only need about 99 more to maybe join you in the big leagues.

What fantastic felt!

Thanks! It definitely is in a class of its own given the finish and coloration. Of course, considering my collection is so small that's not really saying much.

Sadly, missing the sweat. Don't know who made it. Crown liner says Royal Beaver Custom Made "20". Lovely lightweight felt. Raw edge with one line of stitching 2 1/2".

Came with a nice Mallory box with leather strap. Also got an oval Stratoliner box. I was really hoping there was a Stratoliner inside, but alas.

Have a great Saturday evening,
Michael
Still a very nice find, Michael. That one deserves a new sweatband.

Very nice shape to that hat, Jonathan. I like the look of the felt too. Nice catch.

A homburg when it's not at work? The laid back homburg look: I like it, Jeff.

Ha! Thanks Stefan. Even my most formal hats seem mostly to get paired with casual attire around here. There tend to be maybe four or five of them that ever seem to rotate in when I am wearing a suit or a tuxedo; my VS, Tumwater, Knox homburg, and Dennis Brooks seem to be the most frequent formal visitors... at least in my hazy recollection.

I like both of those, Jeff. You have a real natural look in a Derby!

As far as the callouses go, ever hear the old adage "use it before you lose it"?

Yesterday was nice enough for the Borsalino Ludoela in Ghiaccio.

That’s fantastic. The felt looks like it’s really light weight, and that you could re-crease it in as many different shapes as you like without it ever showing a sign of the last one. Really great jacket too!

I'll be wearing a black hat and raising a toast to Bob later today. :(

This "+1" is for you @RJR

I just saw your post in the other thread. He'll be missed.

...We'll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time will open up again
We'll be back in the high life again
All the eyes that watched us once will smile and take us in
And we'll drink and dance with one hand free
And have the world so easily and oh we'll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again
