Alan, Great to see this one. It's definitely a special hat. Here is the Anton Peschel Neutitschein "Service" liner stamp that I found a while ago from a seller in the Czech Republic.

I love seeing this again... such an incredible find. Now we have to keep an eye out for the plates that lay down the red and green... 8^)

Trying out my new Dobbs One Hundred.

The brim had a very strong Bob influence, but was no match for my invincible steamer.

The felt is very, very dense, and the brim is stiff, with a soft crown. The hand is amazing.

The Cav edge didn't let me contour the brim easily. It took a while, and a lot of steam.
By the way, I used a surgical mask when I brushed it. I am sure those little fibers are harmful when inhaled.

I needed anesthesia just to look at it!
Luckily no nitro was necessary...so far!

Thanks Jeff! The band was done by Gayle Greene and the slide by her partner (and long time friend of ours) Jimmy Begay. They did work for the Hatsmith (now closed?) and O'Farrell in Santa Fe.

That's some beautiful work. Thanks for the links. I remember you mentioned those names before, and I couldn't find their work for sale for some reason. Is O'Farrell the only place? What about for Jimmy Begay? (There are probably a lot of people with that last name, but I have a friend on the Navajo Reservation who is also Begay.)

RogerA recently entrusted me with a 50-60's Stratoliner - now the second in my fleet - while I get a little chord practice that is long overdue. What do you play, TunedVWGti? Here is a Summit I purchased back in the mid-80's. I guess it is getting a little age on it, too!

Oh my gosh...a Summit mando and a Strat in the same picture! [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7]

Both are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

Several years ago I was buying and selling mandolins pretty regularly until I found my "lifetime" mandolins.... I'm not sure if they will truly quench my Mandolin Acquisition Syndrome for good, but I have had the same two mandos for 3 years now... I'm playing a Gibson F5 Custom with my band and at home I also have a Collings that sees regular action. The Gibson has a perfect setup, neck, and fret profile...so I tend to play it the most.

That Stratoliner is sweet! I remember him posting it and I think it was one size too small.

I really like Summit mandolins, and I believe they're made only a few hours from where I live in Kentucky. I travel to Nashville regularly and always try to pick on a Summit when given the chance. Really cool!
