Day with an uncertain weather, a bit of sun, less than I hoped

Borsalino Qualità Superiore made in 1976 in the historic Borsalino factory of Alessandria

The color is "Vinca" and the size is 6 or 7 3/8 US

The hat is made of soft felt and has a tone-on-tone finish and ribbon

The shape is classic for those years. It comes from purchases made over the last few years in Merano

A praise to my "colleagues" of FL for the beautiful hats that every day I see on your heads. This is a period that I do not have much time to comment. I'm sorry

Thanks Red. They call this stuff shadow plaid, and I kind of like the sound of Shadow Plaid Man. Ha ha. The snow was a lot heavier and stickier this time and the snow shovel nearly wrestled me into submission.

Thanks Stefan. Never did figure it out by web searching and it's not like there is a furrier in every town anymore.

I like this color. I believe it could compliment most any clothing worn. Can you think of any colors of clothing it does not go with?

Thanks, Dennis. It does go with just about anything, but I do feel it does need some other item of clothing that's in a lighter shade too.

Firmish, but with a very nice hand. I prefer thinner, more pliant felts, like the German Stetson you sent me, but the hand in this is better than the one on that one.

The temperature drop that follows snow falls has me bundling up during this mornings dog walk. A Borsolino Misto has my hat of choice for this adventure.

And it seemed to be a heather felt kind of day, so the Rothschild was next

Pitchers and catchers reported yesterday, so it's the perfect time. Plus, I love a good Pete story.

Sent directly from my mind to yours.

I often work on jobs with a bunch of guys who went to Iowa & Iowa State, & are huge college basketball fans. We have all become good business friends. In 2011-2012 we were involved together on a 2 yr project in NV & on weekends would go into Vegas when we could. We were there during March Madness once & talked about going back some yr during the finals. So in March 2014 we met in Vegas to watch all the semi-finals & finals from tourneys around the country. We booked our rooms, placed bets & watched games all from the casino. Had a great time!

When we arrived at the airport we caught a limo together. When the driver pulled up in front of the casino, there sat Pete Rose. On the sidewalk under the casino canopy he had 2 cafeteria style tables set up "L" shaped. On one table he had 3 TV's, on the other table he had a couple dozen baseballs & about a dozen baseball caps all laid out. He was selling autographs for $25.00 a pop & if you didn't have something "suitable" to sign he would gladly sell you a baseball or ball cap which he would autograph.

One of the guys asked the limo driver who worked for the casino if Rose was there as a promotion for the casino. The driver said no & that Rose shows up several times a yr during big sporting events. The casino didn't mind because Rose bets all the money me makes on autographs inside the casino on sporting events; it wasn't because Rose was a draw for the casino. Pete watches the games he bets on while hawking his autograph. He continues to place bets as the games play out. The driver said Rose has an Asian wife who is often with him but I didn't see her.

Sad, really. Pete was overweight & looking bad. And it was that fall or maybe the next yr that Fox Sports used Pete on the NLCS for the first time. On TV I saw he was wearing the same pair of yellow snakeskin cowboy boots as when we saw him in Vegas.

Wearing my Bradford LTD conversion in Silverbelly with a Burgundy 1 1/2 ribbon....don't know if I care much for the 2 1/2 brim width. I really don't like anything under 2 5/8 for me when it comes to fedoras.
