Yes...you answered your own question as they were sold here as the catalog shows. Now Stetson's idea of a discount hat was entirely different from the other hatters who still were cheaper than even Penn-Craft's.
Penn-Crafts were only a little cheaper than similar hats with the Stetson moniker, and they were quite well made as with all the Stetson's of the time.
So, YES....you have a nice hat!;)

Thanks for the feedback and compliments. Yes, this one I'll be keeping!

Good morning. My Gannon Beachcomer and I have taken a walkabout this morning. This custom hat made by Gannon pays homage to the venerable Stetson Beachcomer sold in the 30's.

Cheers, Eric -
Absolutely fantastic! Best of both worlds vintage and new. One of my favorites so far, I may have to plagiarize it. As I said earlier if and when I grow up I hope I can have some fine fedoras like yours.

Thanks for the compliment sir. Copy away! My recent custom moderns are all inspired from my vintage hats which I am continued to wear to an early demise.

Inspired by this vntage hat.

I've been wearing this 3X Beaver Quality Stetson Western that I converted some time back. The generous Lounger who gave it to me said it had a story to tell. It was really rough and dirty when I first got it. It was definitely a hat that someone used for work. I cleaned it up just enough to preserve some of its history. Naturally aged and distressed, I reused the original brim binding and 3 ply ribbon. To me the hat has tons of character. I took my inspiration for this hat from an earlier 1940s version of an Open Road that had a 3 ply thin ribbon with tails and a keeper. An even earlier OR version was a wide ribbon fedora.
