It feels sublime, Max. The photos kinda wash out the rich green color of the hat, it shows better in this photo. However, the hat still looks much better in person. ;)

Well, I am glad the felt is on a par with the looks of it. Beautiful! I just bought an Excellent Quality Stetson on eBay. I can't wait 'til Juan Carlos, my brother in law, brings it over to Mexico.

Today....my fingers and toes are numb on this beautifully rainey cold day. Time for socks, gloves and leather!
And to find the matchy match hat.
So....a vintage Disney Twenty to match a vintage Cal Leather cross zip.
Or maybe the other way around.
Lookin for my gloves??
Be well and warm. Bowen
Yes. And your socks.

I'm still a neophyte when it comes to felt quality. I know the consensus is older hats have nicer felt, and many of my vintage hats do have a wonderful feel but I also have a couple new hats that, to me, feel just as nice. ;)

First edition Stetson Stratoliner. Color is a pale blue/gray. The first photo shows it most accurately.

My favorite hat on the lounge and that has as much to do with the wearer and the way it's worn as it does the hat itself.

That hat is all you Alan!

My Heirloom felt Optimos are almost as nice as my nicest vintage felts. The regular felt Optimos are not, but are still very nice. Very.
But my El Presidente, once Ignacio showed me what to look for, is awful. For shame, Stetson!

Welcome to the new WHAYWT world. Great way to make a splash.

Rain soaker of a day in Funkytown, and Fruno goes Hollywood.

I figure the gills will be useful with all the rain we're getting.

I almost forgot about this interesting hat. The history of it was fun to research. Love the gills.

My early morning walk takes me by Veterans Memorial Park. The Akubra Stylemaster shrugs off the morning mist.

Fantastic finish Perry.

Turned out to be a two day hat (actually three, but I forgot to take pictures of one). This came in today from Oregon to Holland. Caxton hat in chalk. Had to try it on of course.

The phone camera has some trouble with it; more soon taken with a real camera.
I really should have fondled that one more before shipping it. Such an incredible hat!

Knox Grafton on this fine morning.

Love the Grafton Michael. The little flash of color looks good on this one.

Stetson Pinnacle, my only beaver felt hat. Thought I'd wear it on a cold New England day at work.

A fine piece of history. What was the first year of the Strat? Boeing developed the 307 in the late 1930s.

Very interesting lines Brent. I like that rich brown.

Looks great on you, Mike. I admit I like the style.
Thanks Stefan, it is just different enough to be interesting as a black homburgesque creature.

Hey everyone!
Northern California is still enjoying summer weather, so this Supernatural Panama porkie comes out to see the sun.

One of my favorites Bowen. Of course, I'm a sucker for gills.

Mike, It looks fantastic! It might be considered a "Camber". Based on the "/59" on paper label the production year was 1959.
A new hat term for my vocabulary Steve. Is it European? Just when you think you've heard them all!

Just perfect Steve. One of the best gray tones ever!

Always a treat to see the Stevens Richard.

First yellow hat box open: Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore- Qualità Petronius Lavorazione speciale size is 6 or 59 centimeters
2w4iidt.jpg

Color "Vinca" C "Sansa", C is for cinta=ribbon and "Sansa" is what remains when the olives are pressed to have oil
15hhegx.jpg

It came directly from the fifties and was sold in Bologna
35jmq9x.jpg

Proportions are. brim 6 cm., ribbon 3 cm. and crown at 10 cm.
5uebmg.jpg

Curious that Qualità Petronius is used for a hat sold in Bologna where the saint of the town is San Petronio (Petronius in latin)

Have a nice day and thnks for the likes and kind words of the last days

FINALLY got back here!

Over the weekend we attended an event where a jacket was the decorum.
Hat: Vintage Silhouettes Oxblood. I always check the color in at least two sources of light...

Enjoy your time!
Great to see you Charlie! Oxblood is a color that I covet. This one really is a looker, nice ribbon contrast.
