What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

A trip to Costco called for a more formal hat today. Also, I'm celebrating the pond being back in operation, still really green, but functioning. The homburg is an English creation from the 1950s by Robert Heath & Co. An ascot and DB jacket rounded out the look.

A simple Royal looking in all ways like a Stratoliner, but not one. This World War II era hat was sold in the village of East Aurora, NY (a lovely town just south of Buffalo) in a shop owned by Max Menashe Kadet whose name was Kadecki when he was born in Poland in 1883. He died in 1961. Oh the stories that hats can whisper through the imprints on their sweatbands.

Here I am on the first day a felt hat can be worn
Tonak blu 1.jpg

The summer was long and hot, without interruptions, so I waited to be able to be on the track again.
I was lucky because after my arrival, after a week in the mountains, I found a full-bodied package waiting for me
Tonak blu 2 bis.jpg

Part of my plan to use old felts or unfinished new ones for new hats was there waiting for me
Tonak blu 7.jpg
Recently produced Tonak lovingly curated by Fleur of Penumbra Hats who made it wearable.
Tonak blu 2.jpg

It arrived unlined and with a very banal shape. It has been "combed" and made to be shaped as desired.
Tonak blu 3 bis.jpg

With it came other "experiments" that you will soon find in some thread dedicated to the new hats.
Buona giornata

Got to give you that, Red. That is a sharp look, the cravat is a lovely flourish, a creative piece of neck wear and with the pocket handkerchief, you have definitely got "the look."
