I like it Michael. Very sharp!
Thanks ET.

That looks like the perfect springtime hat, Michael. Stay warm!
Thanks Randy. It is a great springtime hat. I couldn't get my photos today to give it the true buttery yellow color. It warmed up here more than expected and I spent almost the whole day out working in the yard in shirtsleeves. Admittedly with a wool sweater as a base layer. Ha ha.

Thanks,
Michael

Fritz Hückel Hutmacher "Zephyr Seal Velour" probably mid 1950s. This hat was made for the American Market. Hückel Weilheim probably couldn't use just Hückel because Tonak had the rights to the trademark.

What a fine velour! You have a never ending line of great hats, Steve. absolutely love the styling of that 13 pleats bow. One to copy some day, if you don’t mind.

1955 Dobbs 2 7/8 Guild Edge in Silverbelly that was given to me by a 74 year old man who I’m building a one car garage for.
Told him I was a collector that refurbished hats and he took me inside and showed me he one that was owned by his Grandpa. He talked about his “Gramp”, the hat and memories and I told him how special the Dobbs was and how much the hat might sell for and other hat facts.
An hour later he came out to the garage and gave it to me! A very nice and gracious man. Wouldn’t let me pay anything for it. Wish it had his initials stamped in the sweatband.
As luck would have it, it’s my size!
My new favorite.

These last two pics are before and after shots of the liner. I’ve come up with a good way to clean them without removal.

That's a great story, Randall. The gentleman obviously could feel that you'd take good care of his gramp's Dobbs.
Nice clean up job on the liner.
