More snow here in Jersey, another nutria quality to catch the flakes. I think that’s what kettle curls are for, no? Hope all are staying well!

View attachment 311408 A Dobbs made from several Dobbs.
This hat was sewn back together last night using a liner, sweatband and
felt /hatband from 3 hats that were, individually, incomplete.
Nevertheless, they came together in this one hat to make one awesome fedora. The other 2 Dobbs had suffered too much moth damage to fix. View attachment 311409
The grosgrain bow was one of those rear bow creations except it was on the side. I wasn’t a fan of that look, so I flipped the ribbon to the “new” side and made a shark gill bow with 7 pleats.
The sweatband was a size 7 that made the stretch to 7 1/4, however, I wouldn’t recommend this procedure when not knowing exactly how and what to do. I’ve shared a successful way to do this using “as new” sweats in another thread.

Hope everyone stays warm and safe in the hard hit areas.
Weird and dangerous weather out there.
We merely got more very unneeded rain last night. It’s been so wet for so long that the ground has soured. Even with the heat on (when I can stand to run it) and a dehumidifier I am fighting moisture and mold.
Not good for hat collections. View attachment 311405 View attachment 311407

Pecan beaver felt custom from Mike Miller at NW Hat Co. A longtime favorite. This came open crown and the first bash was a wide center crease. Now it's got a diamond crease and has made a nice home here.

Sun is peeking out of the clouds today but rain in the forecast, running 40° - 50°F today. Sorry for those still in the freezing weather and especially those without power. We have been lucky and our electricity service has stayed on even through the freezing rain when so many others lost power. View attachment 311364
Hey Doug! You've got it bashed just right. Mike Miller definitely has the touch. I always liked the classic profile on that one. Looking good.

Things have been hectic down in GA lately. Over a foot of rain the last week has really made me appreciate one of my favorite hats- this American Hat Maker's Freedom. My collection of hats is pretty small. One fedora, a few straws, couple of westerns and some flat caps for work. I know lots of guys don't like leather hats, but for this kind of weather it's been great and easy to care for. Hit it with some leather conditioner every 6 months or so and it handles sun and rain like a champ.

Brüder Böhm "Böhms Ultima", possibly latter 1930s. I would like to thank Panos for making a trade for this fantastic Velour made for the Norwegian market.

When I moved my photos to the computer and saw this last one I freaked out at the scrappy look of the felt. Then I remembered that the hat got a solid snowing the last time it was out. Took a brush to it for a few seconds and all was fine.
