What is this? A 7X Stetson Number 1 in Silverbelly? It’s gorgeous. It annoys me when I see hats like this because I have a huge head and no interest in working the resale market. Why can’t they still produce this hat?

It's not so much that they can't, more so that they don't.

I mean, clear beaver felt is probably not coming back anytime soon, but Hatco could do an open crown dress western if they really wanted to. I also like hats in this style, but it's apparently not terribly popular among modern hat wearers as most western hats jump straight to a 4" brim. Pretty easy for a custom hatter though...

Enjoy the event this evening!!
Happy Saturnalia to you too, Charlie! That little stingy is beautiful. I love the hue and the texture, and the ribbon makes the hat really pop.

Kind of a 5 gallon Bowler. It's not bad at all. I think it would grow on me, too. Certainly suits you and that wonderful backdrop.

View attachment 293565 A while ago one of our resident enablers mentioned that Heritage grade Campdrafts were on sale. Not needing a fifth Campdraft, I immediately ordered one anyway.
Having had no plans for it, I’ve just been wearing like this and it’s grown on me.

Life doesn’t get any better than having a never-worn lid ready and waiting. It says a lot about our state of affairs.

Some wonderful orange hues, Charlie. We need some of that colour here in grey, grey, and even more grey Denmark. Sadly, no view of the Great Conjunction for us this evening.

Wow! New Cap Day at my house and I am impressed!

I would like to share my new Cordova 8 point cap made from a Green Flannel Prince of Wales Fox Brothers wool.

"Fox Brothers first developed ‘flannel’ in 1803 and to quote Esquire magazine, is still the “Standard Bearer” for this wonderfully soft cloth.Loved by tailors who appreciate the way the it cuts "like a good butter', this wonderfully soft cloth has evolved over many years and is now available as suit lengths in varying designs and weights, exclusively on The Merchant Fox."

"Iconic images from recent history show gentlemen of style wearing Fox Flannel - Sir Winston Churchill’s Savile Row tailor Henry Poole favoured a chalk stripe, Hollywood legend Cary Grant often wore Fox and of course, Gregory Peck in the film, ‘The Man In The Grey Flannel Suit’."

I do not cut anything close to an iconic figure, but the fabric is luxurious to the touch and eye. I do "feel like I am topped smart" wearing the cap.

My wearing preference is to on many occasions to tug the cap down on my back skull. This cap was cut to my wearing preferences. When I tug the cap down the top does not distort. The peaks are peaks and not 16,000+ mountain peaks.

Fox Brothers fabrics-what can you say other than show a picture.

Cheers.

Best wishes, Eric -
