It was slightly colder than normal here in Florida the past few days. Weird since the rest of the country was a bit warmer. But as per normal once the temps dip into to 60s and 50s out come the winter parkas and furry boots. LOL.

Wonderful to have a 100 plus year old hat from a hundred plus year old store and both the store and.... well at least... the hat brand are still around today.

[Short Balding Guy]

I am back from a dog soiree in our cool gray weather. A 30's Canadian fedora was my hat choice.

The Brock fedora brightens the landscape. Glorious bright felt hue. The hue is bright and cool in color. This fedora has 3 stitches in its over-welted edge.

The felt is more substantial and yet easily to mold a crease on the crown. The leather sweat is thicker and very pliable. A terrific 30's hat.

Thanks Joe. I feel fortunate to have acquired a few of that rare find of new old stock in my hat size. Truly amazing that these unworn hats have survived intact. Glorious examples of hat making in the 30's in Canada.

I have been prepping them for some hat care this weekend. A couple of the ribbons got a bit wonky from shipping and I am going to steam and brush them all. I have only worn a few and look forward to adding them to the hats I can wear daily.

It’s a very fine fedora. Must’ve been a hot seller from the Marathon line, as I’ve seen a good many of this model.

The photo is from yesterday while, waiting for the rain to stop, I dedicated myself to dusting and rediscovering some forgotten hats among the many that keep me company in my office.

I made some very bad pictures for a formerly advertising photographer for more than forty years

This is my office with the hats containers: two wardrobes and a series of vintage boxes and very trivial boxes.

As you can see, I also have a series of window displays that keep company with a plaster statue of Ettore Colla, an Italian futurist sculptor and a painting from the Roman school of the 1600s. It is the martyrdom of Saint Catherine of Alexandria plus the facsimile of the Borsalino awards

The studio is much neater when hat season is in sleep, we are now in full swing

Now it is dark to photograph the hat of the day so thank you for your likes and good day to all

Used to belong to my B-I-L’s Granddad.
Twas in dire shape.
Alas, I had to use a wider ribbon, but it looks nice and at least saved from never worn by most anyone status.

Thank you Joe. The Fifth Avenue flagship store of Saks and Company has always been my favorite. My wife found a simple magenta dress for our wedding day there. And it provided a nice escape from the American Girl retail store next door when my kids were little. I haven't been in the store for a couple of years but I am guessing (hoping) it remains as it always has.
