Another great discovery, Steve. Just a wonderful hat from its vintage to the felt and to its back bow. Super find.

Wegener "Start" possibly late 1920s. I was excited + happy when I discovered this rare find back in January.

Cold and foggy morning in Oregon. I do have to brave the elements and go to Home Depot though. Wearing a 1956 Lee "Jet" back bow stingy fedora. This hat has a history, the seller told me that her father bought the hat on their honeymoon in 1956. The wife was not pleased with the expenditure (probably all of $15 or so), so this hat was very rarely worn. It came to me in pristine condition due to her father's guilt I guess.

He probably got the evil eye every time he wore it! No justice for such a fine hat.

View attachment 285222 No mint monochrome Adam with shark gills. Nevertheless, the addition of this 3rd Salvatore Balbi Borsalino, Feather Weight, goes a long way to lighten the load of my coveting transgressions. :) View attachment 285223 View attachment 285224
Salvatore might bring salvation, Randall. Sure looks like it.

Haven't been posting much lately. Just haven't felt very well. My son and I both are dealing with COVID. Anyway, this is the first day I felt like getting out. Wearing a Silverbelly from Northwest Hats.

Sorry to hear it, Bill. I wish you and your son a speedy and full recovery.

Impressive hat!

I'd say that's anything but yesterday's hat, Perry.

The machine hats were due to finish last week, but a series of engagements kept me away from the computer and FL.
A summary of the previous days.
View attachment 285424 Albertini -Linea Panizza in anthracite gray felt with short hair finish.
View attachment 285425
It seems that Panizza and heirs have been weaving first quality felt for many years even if the hats had sways in quality.
View attachment 285426
The same can be said of the Barbisio when it was produced by Cappellificio Cervo.
View attachment 285427
Barbisio Classic of wonderful color, called "Liguria" with the logo written in gold on the bow (Borsalino docet).
View attachment 285428
As always, the combination of colors in Barbisio is excellent as is the felt.
View attachment 285429
With this hat the "machine formed" found in a container are finished. Others will follow, but I will change the theme for the remaining days of the week
Today it's snowing, light this morning when I arrived at the office, now the flakes are heavy.
View attachment 285430
Note the wool cap, called in Italian "passamontagna - balaclava" which when it was purchased was outlawed by the law that prohibited walking on the street with the face covered. It was the seventies and political riots and skirmishes were the order of the day
We are lucky: the temperature is around zero Celsius so there will be little snow on the ground
Buona giornata!
Great parade of hats, Daniele. Italian week is catching on it seems...:)

That's a beauty, Mike. Like you, I love a back bow.

You can thank the guy's wife for the pristine condition :)

Still impressive, Max. Or even more so.

Hut Brömme Nürnberg 75th Anniversary (1953) possibly made by Hückel Weilheim and a recent arrival.

It sure looks like the Hückels we know (and love), Steve. Nice!

That is a beauty, Brent. Fantastic.

Nice Silverbelly, Bill. Most importantly of all, you're looking well. Hope you're beginning to feel so.

Wishing you and your son a speedy recovery.

Have a good Thursday,
Michael
Makes me gasp in awe every time I see it (and I see quite a few Borsalinos from my own collection).

New topic for the week starting on Thursday. A tribute to the hatter Fleur of Penumbra Hat who has been taking care of my hats for at least two years and more.
View attachment 285839 Reported to me by Stefan she has become my point of reference for the restoration, cleaning and manufacture of new hats.
View attachment 285840 I really appreciate her simplicity and her reaching the core business even when the hats seem "lost".
Today I show you one of her creations in which nothing is left of the old / new hat.
View attachment 285841
Interesting felt of a new bought hat of uninteresting Italian manufacture in his hands became this: new shape and size and new ribbon have given this Kent (original name) new life
View attachment 285843
Have a nice day and thank for your appreciation and kind words.
The winter is coming :) so the right time to admire your marvellous hats
Her capable hands will handle some more hats destined for Verona shortly, Daniele. She can work miracles on hats that seem lost. The Kent looks terrific.

My son came home last night with a note he wrote in school. He had to go by memory because he couldn’t even read it. I vaguely remember my dad giving me a note book and a Parker jotter style pen and told me to start writing a journal to improve my writing.
So I gave my son an extra Moleskin I had and showed him how to write a letter to Santa. Today I picked up a couple of Parker Jotters on sale. Tonight he can choose the one he wants and I will keep the other. Wearing my Akubra Federation III

Hope this turns into as fond a memory as I have of my dad.

Another 30s Stetson Standard Quality from Ivano today while out holidaying in Wellington (our capital city).

Particularly smitten by the rakish angled, long tails on the frayed bow and the brim binding details.

Fantastic hat and splendid look all around (as usual), Wayne.

Late to yesterday's party. New-to-me Dalton Regal Quality thin ribbon. Dalton number nine.

Darn that errant wind trolley!
Still the Dalton king, Jim!

Long time no see...thought to stop by and say hi! First day of snow here

Was hunting a hat like that for a long time...could not happen without Brent's generosity!
Hope all fellow loungers and friends are safe and sound.
Cheers,
Panos
Wonderful to see you back, Panos. And you know how to make an entrance! What a hat!

Had to run out this morning after the bread came out of the oven to pick up some last minute ingredients for a vat of cowboy casserole to feed the worker bees this weekend. Pop it in the oven later and let it cook until tomorrow. Got the VS black cherry on top, Santa in front. I feel like I don’t have enough hats to post all the time but I’ve got a couple new ones coming “soon”. I hope everyone has a pleasant weekend. View attachment 286242
That feeling of not having enough hats wil persist, Alan, no matter how many you have. A good hat can't be shown often enough.

Italian week is not over by a long ways. I have been neglecting the lounge this week a bit. Scientists were discussing if the sun even came up at all in the Netherlands these last few days; evidence was inconclusive!
To catch up I'll need two parts.

Borsalino Gulaela nero (qualitá extra superiore).

Lavorazione Speciale "rotto", restored by Fleur of Penumbra. Only later found out that these hats were made by Borsalino.

Borsalino Gulaela nero (not a doubling; I have several of these). This one is qualita superiore.

Intermezzo is an Italian word, so this is allowed. Last week the hats were flooding in from all sides, not in the least because of the generosity of my fellow loungers Mark @M Hatman , Brent @deadlyhandsome and Randy @Rmccamey. Thanks guys!
Here are a few hats that came in and I just had to wear.
