Not quite finished with this one yet. I still have to clean up the ribbon before I actually sew it back on and I still need to do a little more tweaking on the crease. I'll have more later in the Conversion Corral when I'm completely finished with it. This is a faded CA Quality Melton that a fellow Lounger sent me. I took it apart and completely reworked it. The fur felt quality may not be up there but I like the way it came out anyway. It reminds of a hat that a blue collar working stiff may have worn back in the day. Nice and casual....

Although not intended to be a replica, I drew some inspiration for this hat from the fedora that Charlton Heston wore in the movie, "The Greatest Show On Earth". I liked the over all appearance of Heston's hat in this movie...some things I didn't like about it, so I put my touches on the Melton refurb

'Cause black hats matter...
Great ribbon again on the Resistol, Stefan. Is it Wegener made, or US Resistol? Can we see the back bow and liner?

Likewise, can we see the inside of the Scotson. That's a new one for me.

Two nice hats, worn well.

You stay bundled up today! I just love the colors and back bow on this cool German.
Thanks Red.

Looks like you're ready for it, Michael. Cool look.
Thanks Stefan. At this time of year I'm going more for warm looks than cool looks. Ha ha.

2" of snow when I got up this morning. Mostly gone, by the house at least, now.

It's an American Resistol, Steve. Here are some more shots of it.

The Scotson I did post earlier in the four hat post, but because it's such an elegant looking liner...

No matter how good it looks, it no good going on campaign with snow coming; best to set up camp inside!

Great coat, Michael. You certainly found the right hat to match despite the bite out of it. Looks like you're ready for the civil war/WWI version of the Game of Thrones. Hope you're feeling better, sir.

Thanks, Stefan. I'd forgotten the liner on the Scotson. Simple in its elegance and ellegant in its simple design.

The inside of the Resistol is a joy to behold. Love its fullness and flows especially.

Hey all!
Many thanks for the likes and kind comments on my recent posts.
This near-stingy Hückel on a smoky afternoon.

Yup, nice one, John. Almost forgot about that one. You can actually take off the size marking on the liner. Spray some deodorant on a piece of cloth (generously) and you should be able to just wipe it off. Worked for me.

Greetings All:
Today....it’s a Bismuto Borsalino Featherweight, 2 3/4” very thinly felted bound brim with a crown that creases without objection. Interesting is the 3 cord ribbon and bow treatment. Bismuto is a hard color to capture transitioning from light gray to nearly charcoal depending on the lighting. All in all a nice comfortable lightweight hat.
Be well. Bowen

Another great Hückel, Moe.
I've often thought that we should find another term other than "stingy" for these great shorter brimmed hats. Stingy, in my ears, sounds like a term for cheap. I know that's not what's meant.
Perhaps European brim would be better even though not absolutely historically correct.

With this quality felt and a cool ribbon to boot, it's a tough one to forget. :)
I never noticed the size marking before. With my eyes, I only see it on the pic when I zoom in. I'll remember that trick if ever I find a hat more prominently marked.
