The week of autumn colors is over, in reality the hats stuck in a container are finished.
I selected another one and thought I'd call this week, as my friend Steve says, the one with pre-shaped hats (machine formed hat)

I have seen some horrible and also beautiful ones. European industry has churned out millions of various shapes and qualities and some of them even excellent

Let's start with an Italian hat, probably made about forty years ago in Monza

Gold Star "Lepre Garantita" size 60.
The felt is of medium consistency with a short fur and the shape has been lightly machine made, with a little steam it takes other shapes
View attachment 282564 The color is light gray with contrasting black ribbon, excellent quality finishes. New, it is a warehouse stock.

Thanks for your likes.
Happy Sunday to all of you and keep showing me your hats, they are a source of inspiration
Very nice, Daniele. Classic look and colours.

Today, November 22, is a day that lives on infamy here in the USA... "Hatless Jack" Kennedy was assinated in Dallas in 1963. John Simmons was the person who told me about it during the afternoon recess on our elementary school playground.

Contrary to all the blame, he was NOT entirely hatless. He was a Cavanagh man, and this one was his style...

Interesting note... this little classic consistently receives comments of admiration from (mostly) younger guys. Am I in fashion?? Nah!!!

Have the best day yet!!
Note; Not sure why, but despite my efforts the interior shot wouldn’t readily post. It’s worth a peek.

Charlie; Anyone wearing a Pendleton is fashionable in my book! I was not even in Kindergarten, but I recall my Mom crying hard and my Dad consoling her. It is an image that has stayed with me. That night at dinner we had meatballs, potatoes and carrots. The memory burns bright. My parents, who were Professors at the University at the time, received phone calls (hard line on a black phone in the hall) through the night.

In my book you are fashionable. (Disclaimer; the teenagers in the gym assure me that I am not fashionable. What do they know - Old Guys Rule.)

Eric -

I need a new camera, that crud inside the lens is getting very annoying.

Off for a ride to the bike shop in a few minutes. I'm hoping the Filson double mac will keep me warm

Great history, along with a cool hat, Charlie. I Didn't know JFK was a Cavanaugh man. It makes sense, though. I was in the cradle that day in 1963; my memories were of the 68' assassinations of RFK and MLK. Those 20th-century short brim hipster hats are definitely your style, and Cavanaugh made some great ones. As they say, what comes around goes around. Did Eisenhower wear Stetson? It looks like he has an OR type of hat in his hand.

It sent shockwaves around the world, that's for sure! If that's a picture of the presidential transition from Eisenhower to Kennedy, it's refreshing to see it can be done with grace.
Alledgedly Kenedy's inauguration top hat was made by Spoorenberg from the Netherlands.
Good looking Cavanagh by the way, Charlie.

Charlie, I too have a precise memory of that day from far away. The time zone acted as a shield on the evening of 22nd November because I went to bed early, like all ten-year-old children in the last class of the elementary school. Something had leaked in the Italian TV programs (not in my house), but above all on the radio. The next day at school we were informed of what had happened, and in a very special way the director showed us the special edition of the news that was about the assassination of the president of the United States. We remained silent and somewhat destabilized. My father worked, as an Italian civilian, for the American forces stationed in Europe in the FTASE command in Verona and he brought home a couple of American newspapers which I tried, with a small dictionary, to translate, at least the titles, printed in characters. cubital. A few years had passed since the war and the veterans and their women were absolutely amazed at such a "subversive" event in the United States. Days with a thousand and one hypotheses followed until the day Lee Oswald was assassinated, then everything seems so complicated in your country from this point of view.

A vintage Knox Twenty. After a little work on the crown and brim, it doesn’t look half bad. I bought it in a thrift store in Mason, Texas, for US$18.00.
