Korean War era Knox Premier Quality baku straw. A very light and airy hat weighing in at 1.9 ounces. Baku straw was sourced from the Philippines.
Now that's my kind of Panama! Nice classic profile of that era too. Very nice!Korean War era Knox Premier Quality baku straw. A very light and airy hat weighing in at 1.9 ounces. Baku straw was sourced from the Philippines.
Yeah, I really like it. The vent holes, the ribbon work, the brim and crown profiles,....I really like this hat!Aurel Huber "Antilope", possibly mid 1950s. They were originally a famous Straw Hat Factory in Lindenberg, Germany (see Mayser Milz & Cie, ect). I think they started Felt Hat production prior to WWII but really increased production + added felt production post WWII. Many ex J. Hückel´s Söhne (Czechoslovakia) ended up working for Aurel Huber post WWII. I am not sure why it's so difficult to find older Aurel Huber hats. The Antilope finish is great and the felt easily dry creases. I am not sure if the vents are original but they lineup properly so highly possible.

I really like the ventilated weave on that one, man, and I totally feel you about the humidity. I'm in the deep South, and it's rough on the straws.....especially the ones that are really light enough for the heat.Headed up to Haolewood in search of a beach tucked back in between empty condos and deserted golf courses. Princeville isn’t known for its beaches, but there is an overgrown path that runs from a very small parking lot for public beach access, along a fence protecting the condo commandos from the masses. With the help of ropes for the climb down to the beach, I found a small piece of heaven on earth called Hiedaway.
The hemp on this Akubra range is holding up to the humidity here quite well. It isn’t getting limp and floppy like some of my other straw hats have become. It is definitely straw season, but wearing this straw, I don’t have to worry about the rain showers that will water The Garden Isle from time to time.

Definitely ready for the weekend with that hat and shirt.
M. E. Glunz & Cie. Strassburg, possibly 1920s maybe older. I believe this hat was made at the Ottmar Reich Straw Hat Factory Lindenberg, Germany because the owners of M. E. Glunz & Cie. were expelled from France after WWI and contracted Ottmar Reich for production (see below). The Straw Braid could be "Split" (China, Handwoven, 7 Stalks, Sewing Method: Over Stitch, Split Wheat Straw). I think this hat has a great overall look.
From "Ottmar Reich, 100 Years" (1938).

You got that right!Definitely ready for the weekend with that hat and shirt.
Yes, the hat is fine, but the trousers largely steal the showPortis Super-Lux sort of morning.

One, Two or Three? This is the everyday hat I reach for in summer... light, comfortable, durable - a parabuntal straw that has been treated in some way to be weather resistant. 1950s I would guess.
Alan, Thank you! Superb Stetson Royal Parabuntal from you today!Magnifique!
Daniele, Thanks! Your Panama looks fantastic! You wear it well. The weather and Verona setting look great too! One, Two or Three?
I don't know which one to choose.
What to say? I feel inadequate with a Panama or pseudo such, without shape, to keep me company
