An unexpectedly damp Saturday today. Still, this unlined Dalton featherweight fills the bill.

I am chuckling at your reminder of Uncle Buck! Everyone's family has an Uncle Buck. You have to keep the hat and roll it out for Uncle Buck moments.

My first "shopping foray" for 3 months was this morning at 11:00am. I have been to the grocery store, butcher shop, hardware store over the past months. Liquor, beer (our local brewery delivers to my door), other purchases/necessities and even personal goods are delivered. My first visit other than the before mentioned was the Tailor. It required an appointment a week ahead of time and waiting in the parking lot to be called and summoned into the shop. Picking up items from March, dropping off slacks and some outside work pants were on the agenda. It was my first. A unique moment that had me more excited than a trip to the tailor shop had ever been.

Anywho.... I wore a Well Dressed Head cap for the "momentous" occasion.

Finished with the excitement for the weekend, I went home and celebrated by sipping a beer on the dock with my dog - exactly as it should be.

Cheers, Eric -

Eric... I guess if nothing else this experience allows us to appreciate even the little things like going to the tailor. Though I’m not sure it’s one I myself have ever experienced.

I believe you may be right on the Uncle Buck hat

be well and be safe.

Wow!! I love the color and style of that one, Jim.
I’ve got a wide brim Dalton coming.
Just a typical gray with black ribbon, but with not so typical wide binding with four rows of decorative stitching.
It’s in good condition but it may need a bath. Think I’m going to finally give it a try. I’ll start with a test hat first though. Still worried about the leather sweat and plastic liner tip!

Here’s a mystery straw that I bought for ten bucks along with two cheap garden straw hats. It was sans sweatband and hatband, but the real straw weave is very light and floppy, yet holds its shape well.
I sewed on a black grosgrain ribbon and bow that I took off a Dobbs stingy and sewed in a Resistol sweatband that was also taken from a cheap/ruined western.
I pleated the wide ribbon and bow.
Made for a decent lookin’ straw, and it goes with my new Sheen shirt. think I’m going to include a few more of these lounge styled shirts as part of my summer attire.

Cool and thanks. Daltons are few and far between. That one sounds interesting.

This one originally had a thin felt ribbon that I switched out a couple years ago.

Great job on the ribbon and bow, Jim.
Love the color. And how’d you find a matching wind trolley?

I’ll shoot before and after pics of the Dalton. Hopefully, the after pics will be pleasant.

BTW, here’s a basket case Marathon I got on the cheap. Showed up in a plastic bag all scrunched up, but this one was in trouble way before the seller jammed it in a bag to be molested by the usps.
Oh well, at least the after pics are assured to be more pleasant with this one.
