Lee Water Bloc Bronze Label

Lee Water Bloc - Bronze Label
Light Milk Chocolate
4 1/2 crown as bashed
1 1/8 Brown grosgrain mid ribbon
2 3/4 overwelt brim
1 7/8 soft supple sweatband.
Unlined interior
This very cool unlined... light milk chocolate Lee Water Bloc Bronze label surely deserved a spot in the 30 Days... unfortunately it got skipped. And with some of the fantastic unlined examples on display the last couple days... it was time for this one to have its turn in the sun... or grey overcast sky as it were today. This one has a nice wide 2 3/4 brim and a less common mid ribbon. A thin light weight felt and a beautiful color that does change depending on light from a tan to a milk chocolate color. I don’t end up wearing this one too often as my wife thinks it looks to much like a Sheriff’s hat. Which may be true as it worked out great as part of my Chief Hopper from Stranger Things costume this past Halloween. Not a perfect match. But much more affordable than The $600 to $800 Worth and Worth Was looking for on their Official version. Today it came along as we ventured out to find a sofa for my mother-in-law. Quite an adventure... though maybe not quite fitting this adventuresome hat.

That is just a gorgeous hatThis week I will feature various shades of Grey German and Austrian Velours. Most will be from the 1930s.
VEB Luckenwalder Hutfabrik "Velour" possibly late 1950s. Prior to WWII Luckenwald (located ~ 50 KM south of Berlin) was the second largest hat making center in Germany behind Guben (Wilke, Berlin Gubener). Post WWII all hat factories in Luckenwald (located in the DDR/GDR) were nationalized as VEB Luckenwalder Hutfabrik. The Velour quality is fantastic especially considering the later time period. I especially like Blue Gray color and the Velour has great finish and very soft hand. This is a machine formed hat but doesn't suffer form wise.
Very unique Bow Treatment
Is that the same Lee we spoke about recently? Wow, it is an incredible beauty!30:30 OT:34

Thank you PerryGreat hat Joe!
Thank you Alan! I’m not sure. I have one other actual Lee branded hat (along with I’m sure some other Lee manufactured hats like Penny’s Marathon). The other one is a Silver label in bit darker brown “Panda Felt”. Kind of a velour like finish. Always cool to find actual Lee branded examples considering how much private label work they apparently did.Is that the same Lee we spoke about recently? Wow, it is an incredible beauty!
Stefan, Thank you! The Velour quality in this case almost doesn't make sense. I guess it's possible they had old stock from STECO (or some other company) or they still had the ability to make something of this quality.Excellent, Steve. I find they can be a bit hit and miss, but if they're good they're very good indeed. Love the bow treatment.
Either way that’s a really great looking hat JoeThank you Alan! I’m not sure. I have one other actual Lee branded hat (along with I’m sure some other Lee manufactured hats like Penny’s Marathon).
