Today....about a week ago Jim, @Frunobulax made the point that we don’t often see Resistol fedoras much. Sadly true because Resistol made fedoras as well as anybody. Imho
Here’s an unknown jobber 3x beaver with 2.5” brim and as nice a self-edge as anyone’s. Inner tag reveals a Resistol of rather distinctive character.
Got some help with brushing from Lo Lo.
Be well. Lo and Bo

Wonderful Resistol and pics with Willow Bowen !

So I’ve got the kid home with me for a few weeks. Doing her schoolwork via email and FaceTime. Her school is in the middle of the quarantine zone or whatever the heck they’re calling it. Luckily her swim team practice facility is outside the zone, and I was able to get a good walk in today. Brought the black cherry VS with me. Excellent day for it. Cool enough to not get too sweaty. Warm enough to be comfortable. Hope everyone is staying safe in this Steven King novel we’re all of a sudden living in. View attachment 219569 View attachment 219570

Beautiful VS Alan. Good luck with the quarantine.

Ad for this cool hat

View attachment 219601

I’m thinking this may be a more brim up hat for me than down....

But I may still find the sweet spot... more in new hats thread

Very cool Joe ! I have a picture of that Ad that I want to try to copy the ribbon on some day.

Thanks for the question Randall. My hats have many imperfections, but I do enjoy wearing them.

I use my Jiffy Steamer most weeks to touch up hats. I do have a couple wooden blocks to work the crowns. I only have one flange and so I am creative with working the brims. As to creases, after posting many times in the crease thread, which has disappeared off the front page of the hat forum long ago, I watched and learned a bunch of very subtle creases. The thread had some regular posters who showcased some terrific efforts in creases. I liked that it expanded my repertoire. Early on I worked hats to have the same crease. The last years I go with what the hat asks for. The brands of hats, models and felts each have characteristics that demand a type of crease. Additionally when I look at the magazine advertisements of the hats I start by mimicking the crease. An excellent starting point.

But truth in posting, I have also been much more lax in the detail of creasing. I am accepting of an off center crease or a bit of brim tip. I like the hats I wear and like the way I appear in hats. Comfort with wearing hats makes it easier.

So, you do all the shaping yourself.
I must say, you do a heck of a job, sir.
I’ve never seen a single brim or crown of yours that Wouldn’t make a great magazine ad.
