A bit of a rare duck... a longhair beaver fur fedora - likely 1920s, perhaps earlier. Beavers were in very short supply during these times and their pelts were much more expensive to source than hair, coney or nutria. Union made, no other manufacturer identity is present - nor have I found much information on Bancroft or Donath Acker.

A rare but very beautiful duck, Alan. I'm referring to the hat of course, but the description could fit the wearer, too.

Seriously, that is an outstanding piece. Love it!

A beauty! You can even see the brush direction, that's furry heaven.

Chapeau de France - Maison fondeè in 1903, size 59 cm. It fits perfectly

It is a young brother of some Antonin France (homburgs) branded hats

The beautiful and soft felt with a soft surface has a color called "Etna".
The ribbon and the trims of the brims matching perfectly the color of the felt

Have a nice Friday!
Thanks for the likes
The French connection seems to be in full swing. Wonderful, Daniele.

Thanks Stefan. Fortunately I arrived back home about 10 minutes before the snow started.

Thanks again, Stefan. I've been liking the Charles Knox a lot lately. Wearing it around the cold house.

All lovely hats, Stefan. There seems to be something slightly suggestive about the labeling on that Mayser.

Thanks,
Michael
Thanks, Michael. Had to take another look at the Mayser to be honest:)
Indeed best to to mention to someone where the hat came from after three drinks!

Going to have to find a coat if I go out today, but I'm thinking I might relax at home instead. Harris Tweed for that duty.

Have a good day,
Michael
Very nice, Michael. I like the understated look of that Knox.

My Mayser Spezial on this crisp, sunny day in Denmark. This one is doing well for a 70 year old. That's the hat folks, not me View attachment 213088 View attachment 213089 View attachment 213090
Ah, yes, that one. There's a whole lot to like there, Steve. Super hats and great shots.

Well, good, ‘cause here it is:
That looks fantastic, Randall. Great job you did there.
Yeah, you look pretty good for 70 years old Steve....... Oh, sorry.. I mean the hat looks good.....;)

These Maysers posted lately look fantastic, I gotta get me one.

I may be able to do you one better, Tim. Don't touch that dial...(full enabling mode switched on here;))

Two hat day already while prepping for some extended family coming in from out of town. (Glen) O'Farrell, Sidney Bechet, and I cleaned off the driveway the old fashioned way:

Then it was off to the grocery store with this Staalmeester courtesy of everyone's favorite Dutch connection @steur:

It's easy to be number one if you're the only Dutch connection, but I'll take it!:D
Looks good on you, Jonathan. I covet that coat though.

Sometimes these unknown brands have the nicest hats. This one is an example of that: superb, Alan.

That Optimo Bowler looks perfect in the foreground to that art deco background, Reggie. Forget Magnum PI, you're Poirot.
LOL Thanks, Steve
Good looking Champ, Hector!
View attachment 213092 View attachment 213094 View attachment 213095 View attachment 213096 Got this Wormser done late last night. Hand sewn and dyed silver binding. It was too silver, so I used Rit dye to gray it up some. Had to do some repair whip stitching on the 75 year old sweat. My new favored fedora.
Perfection, Randall.
