Hard to beat that look, Héctor.

Peschel Hut (Dinkelsbühl, West Germany) possibly mid to later 1950s.

Another super hat, Steve. Love the bow keeper.

For my trip to Eugene today I wore a WWII Vintage Stetson Vita-felt fedora. I have a "hat guy" in Eugene, and now a "watch guy"! I took my father's Hamilton Railway Special pocket watch to Anderson Watchmaking on Oak Street. Marc was really helpful and schooled me on this heirloom. It was made in 1946, so my Dad bought it when he came back from Guam and went to work for the Southern Pacific and settled in Eugene. Probably used during the 1950s. He said that these railroad watches were extremely accurate, they had to be to keep trains on schedule and not running into each other. It does need a good cleaning, but he is 4-5 months backlogged and it would be $175. It will be fine for a while. He took the back off to check it out and we found that my father's name, DOB and his date of death as well as MY NAME with my birthday (DOD is blank!) engraved. My mother must have had this done. I never knew. I will be wearing it with pride for a while and then getting it serviced. Marc said they need it about every 5 years.

Superb hat, Mike. And great story about the watch!

While at Northwest Hats in Eugene today I was able to see a friend's Borsalino Italian hat from the early 1950s. It was shipped in from Bill Hughes from Texas. The Stetson I was wearing came from him. I was in awe of this special hat. The name in the sweat band translates to "Otter". Whether it is made from otter fur or it is a color name is a question. I must admit to petting this creature and trying it on. Sorry Bill, but it had to be...

With that smile it would be hard not to forgive you. Great to see that Lontra (it's one I still crave).

Have a great Wednesday,

Excellent hat and suit, Michael. Better take them inside and protect them from the snow.

Manchester made Imperial Stetson for a trip to Copenhagen today.

I've just found out how to find all the other threads I follow on the FL. It was so much easier with Tapatalk.

Seems like I've got a lot of catching up to do.

You won me over with the Resistol, Terry. Beautiful looking lid. Love that colour. Adding Johnny Cash just killed the deal

Coincidentally, I wore a Resistol too today.

Hope you and your wife are feeling better, buddy.

Wearing one of my Resistol Stagecoach conversions in Chestnut this a.m. The hat is actually much more brown than it appears in these pictures. It sports a tall straight crown with a dark brown 6 ply mid ribbon and a 2 5/8 snap brim...

Only back in the New Hats thread when I first got it from Randy.
I need to post all of my 3X's in the 3X thread, but I'm a little behind.

Here's some inside pics though:

And the hat of the week award goes to...

Wonderful colour combination, Bob. Nice coat too.

View attachment 212677 View attachment 212673 Here’s my 40s/early 50s Knox Westlite that I sewed a khaki campaign bow on today. The knotted bow and 2 cord ribbon that was on this hat when I got it wasn’t original, far as I could tell.
So, this hat made a perfect candidate for my second try at this style of bow.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
I think you nailed it! Well, you sewed (sewn?) it, but you still nailed it.

Italian Cervo Gran Marca. It appears that this one was originally sold in Germany.
Oh BTW... While out doing my photo shoot for this post, a young couple saw me and proceeded to gush over my hat!
Excellent find, Rick. Not all that common is Cervo.

Echter Velour - Soleil possibly 1930s. I don't know the company that made it but I am pretty sure it's from a German source. The Velour is very light weight and extremely pliable. This is the only example I have of the use of the word "Soleil". ("When the tips are clipped off and the hair is ironed all around or from top to bottom one talks about “Soleil” ", from "Hair Velour / Real (Echter) Velour / Prime (Prima) Velour Fabrikation von Damen- und Herren- Filzhüten, Der Deustchen Hutmacher Zeitung (1933)")

Very cool find. Great ribbon.

Hey folks!
This Panizza, acquired in a trade with our Dutch connection, sees sun on a pleasant afternoon.

Makes the sun shine as soon as you wear it. Still one of the best Panizzas I've seen, John.

Thank you. buddy! It's hard to beat a good Resistol. When it comes to doing conversions or reworking Westerns I think Resistols and Bradfords are my favorites to work with. When it comes to the earlier Stetsons, though, I really like those.

The wife is having some issues with her eyes that required some laser surgery last week. She has to back again next week for a follow up and possibly some more laser surgery to keep her retina from detaching. I know she's not looking forward to it. She said the laser surgery on her eye was pretty uncomfortable and painful. Thanks for asking buddy. I appreciate that.

That one should get plenty of attention at the mall! Enviable work, Tim!
Hey, if you’re headed up town, pick up those two movies. I’ll have the popcorn ready.
Oh wait, Block Busters no longer exist.
But seriously; is there a site that lets you buy or rent one or two movies, only? Do they still make popcorn?

As you can tell, I don’t get out much.

Fantastic, Tim. Looks like it has always bee there.

3 more Beauties Stefan. I really like that Mayser, another brand I need to add to the collection......
Thanks, Tim. Mayser is one to look out for alright, especially the early ones. I'll keep an eye out.

Love the Mayser fedora. And all your homburgs are the envy of envies.
Thank you, Randall. I appreciate that.
