Good thing I know what that felt feels like (it feels great). Such a nice hat, Max.
Splendid, Jim. The colours are great and the ribbon and bow treatment is super.

Lewis. Brand new Canadian hat from the 1930s

The homburg nation apllauds you, Max. I love the blue grey colour of that one.

Hitting the town with the Whiskey Gannon. A little trip to Levine to get some hat boxes and some good ol' Ted Drew's to seal the deal

Fabulous, Justin. And the brim with some attitude is killer.
And a perfect end to a perfect day yesterday. Sunset with the family and one of our dogs Mugsy. And the Cavanagh.

Best,
Joe

Make sure the dog doesn't catch the hat, Joe.

A Stetson Beachcomer was my next hat choice for further adventures today.

Very cold day with lurking fog

Flechet size 60 or 7 1/2 US. Unlined and probably made in the sixties

The color of the heather felt is: "Mammouth" and the quality of the finish: "Junior 9"
View attachment 204528
The felt is very soft and easily modeled. The NOS hat came from Strasbourg along with many others french hats in my 2015 find

Too large has been remodeled for my head by Penumbra Hats in Holland

In the photo above you see the original color of the wonderful Flechet felt
Many tnanks for your likes.
Have a nice day with your wonderful hats!
Those heather hats are balm for the soul. Another great one, Daniele.

It's completely official. Mein cell phone ist kaputt. At least the camera... and I haven't been out the front door since Sunday. But I wanted to show the hats Tim sent me. This is a dark seaweed green Portis Sterling Quality hat with wide, black crown ribbon. Clearly a stingy brim, the felt is still very nice and the dark green color goes right well with my moss colored fleece jacket.

.

Glad it fit well Doug, that one is sure ultra stingy, but you wear it very well.
Anxious to see the Knox on you.

Sorry to hear about your phone, they are a P.I.T.A....

You know, I was a little disappointed with the place. But I'll write more about it in my blog. It is not the Levine of the past.

Ha! No wonder I was surprised by how good the felt was. Thanks for asking Jim.

Well, that's not what I expected, for sure. Do you know of any other connetions between Maclachlan and the Danbury Hat Co?

The Danbury Hat Company closed it's doors in 1987 as an operation of Stetson, at that time housed in St. Joseph, MO. Stetson purchased them in 1983.

Ha! How much did it sell for, do you know? I don't want to start a "free trial".

The story in the guy's description is the story of the Demon Hanover hat. I am starting to think that, perhaps, this is a further evolution of the DH. Perhaps Danbury purchased the Hoyt Hat Company at some time? That fellow on eBay that's asking a grand for his DH? His has markings indicating Hoyt Hat Co., but in East Dorset, VT.

But if they bought Hoyt, then why didn't they still call it a Demon Hanover?

Either way, great hat, Max. Definitely a rare gem, and in good condition, too.
