Last pre-op appointment before my surgery on the 17th. Wore a favorite taupe Royal Stetson for the physical and more blood tests.

For those interested, it's a transphenoidal endoscopic removal of a pituitary adenoma.

For the dirty work I chose this bowler conversion I started long ago, but put on hold after realizing how many tools and skills I still needed to get in place.
It started as a thrift store, no name, stingy, with a ribbon sweat, and overwelt brim.
I put the sweat from my old Scala beater in, popped the crown and experimented with shellac on it, then ripped the overwelt threads, giving me the start of the curl I want after binding.
I had no bowlers when I started, then shelved it after accumulating some (that showed up on the porch), but still have plans to finish this up as part of my learning process.
Today it will keep my bald head dust free.

This hat needs to win some sorta catagory of hats. If i knew which one i’d tell ya but it would be as unique as you.
I thought i had some that could compete but no way! I yield to your eclecticism.

Have not had the 100 out of the box for several weeks. It's too nasty for outdoors wear today, so thought I would give it some TLC indoors as I get all the decorations ready for Christmas.

Went to see my Haberdasher this morning. He ordered in some fun "roaring 20s" suits. He thought they would just be for the various New Years Eve parties around town with the Twenties themes. Little did he know that this style would be a keeper for me. Never going to luck into a vintage one in my size, so this one really fits the bill. I wanted to see if I could pull off a gray hat with it so I wore my modern JP Stetson Whippet in Phantom Gray. A black homburg will also work well I think... Maybe a white (scary!) with a black ribbon treatment?
