Happy Friday.

Cohn-Asher, ASCO Hats derby. Made in California some 100 years back.

And thanks for all of the kind words over the last couple days. I just don't seem to have enough time to reply or comment on all of the stuff that I'd like to.

My omnibus comment: marvelous hats, all.

And Doug... Good luck on getting that job. Any man with a hat that awesome should simply be handed any job that he desires.

Thank you, Eric. Art no longer has proprietary rights to his special colors but Winchester does have a 36 hat body minimum order for them that keeps smaller hatters from using them. Dove, limestone, and blue smoke are all in that camp and all on my list for future customs. I don’t know if Art still offers the lightweight option but I’ll ask when the time comes.

Your sage hat is beautiful and the inspiration for the willow Phoenix is making for me. Thanks again.

I'm pretty sure Art offered both Sage and Willow felts and there are differences. You might call and check to confirm.

Last I spoke with Art, the only lightweight felt he had left was granite.

Thanks. I’m not ready to go forward with any of my VS wish list hats. I have too many irons in my fire right now, including two hats being refurbished by Art. When I get closer I’ll ask Art what’s available.

While a lightweight felt sounds great, and I have a couple vintage lightweights, I think the way I live and how I use my hats might make me a better candidate for standard weight hats.

Hey everyone!
Thanks for the appreciation of yesterday's Adam. I was going to wear another Homburg today, but it is just too nice of a day for felt. So, another Adam, this one I believe is late 30's.

The coconut oil treatment for the dry straw seems to be a long-term fix. The brim is as supple as can be, and the faint smell of stale coconut oil is now gone. :)
Have a great day!

I think I’d like the faint scent of coconut on a Panama. Thanks for the tip on rejuvenating dry straw.

Ditto Brent...more info on this hat in the ebay gripes section. This was sold as a 7 1/4 but under the liner is really a 61cm. I have a couple spacers in it right now. ;)

Hmmm, I think I heard of a guy around these parts who wears a 61. Now what was his name....? :)

There seems to be endless variations of Borsalinos.

Wow, nice straw. I like that coconut oil tip, I need to try that. Montecristi of Santa Fe told me to use lanolin baby wipes on their straw hats. Those worked pretty good too but I didn't feel the lanolin soaked into the straw very much. Seems coconut would do better. thanks!

Hey folks!
It's not my oldest Homburg, and not necessarily my finest (but I'd be hard pressed to pick which one is, most likely decide on a 12 way tie) but this old Collins and Fairbanks from Charlie's neck o' the woods is, I believe, my grandest.

Love it. John. Great contrasting ribbon and brim binding. A hat with presence for sure.
