Dont't you hate those WTF moments. Last month I took my pure beaver santa fe monticristi hat to my (former) favorite local hat maker, Nathaniels in Georgetown to have him recrease it for me. Then yesterday I dropped by with my Stetson straw Medalist to see if he could sew the sweatband back in where it was coming loose and to enquire about the status of my Monticristi felt. His wife said she would fix the sweat right away and to come back later in the afternoon as she would ask Nate to recrease the hat since he hadn't touched it yet. I come back and the Stetson straw was all stitched up and ready to go. She hands be back the Monticristi and and says Nate couldn't reshape the hat because it wont accept any steam. WTF? I ask why is that and Nate comes out and shrugs his shoulders saying he couldn't do anything with the hat and tells me not to bring in repairs anymore as he is backed up with new hat orders. I have 3 hats from Nataniels and they have done several repairs and recreases over the last couple years. Pretty poor customer service or having a bad day, I left pretty pissed off. So, today I'm wearing my Nathaniels willow one last time before I retire them all to the back of my hat closet. Guess I'll be visiting David at Texas Hatters alot more in the near future.

Wtf! Bummer, Ken. Don't take it out on the hats though. Not their fault and that one looks good on you.

I did. And I wore it downtown last night to a little shindig.

Another intolerably hot and muggy day here, but I'm starting off with a Marathon porkpie while it is still rain cooled this morning.

lol.... never. Just putting them at the very back of my rotation for awhile while my temper simmers down. He does make an excellent hat with superb attention to detail. But the disrespectful attitude toward a customer that purchased 3 of his hats already is a bit off putting. ;)

I'll be seeing alot more of David at Texas Hatters. Also, I'm going to visit Tatton Bairds shop next week and see what he has and to possibly make a custom order. The Tatton OR style I have is just superb and would love having another one of his hats.

That is a cool looking hat for hot muggy day. Has an aire about it similar to a Frank Lloyd Wright style hat. ;)

Hey Ken:
Bet he’d work on one of his!!
Stuff like that makes me want to just flush!
Bad hat Karma!!
I wouldn’t wear his stuff even if it was made out of Ermine and Vicuna.
He could give me a hat and i’d ask for two...one to take a s**t in and one to cover it up!
Some things you “mess with, you’ll see a man get mean”. SRV

lol.... I sure love how you sugar coat everything B. But, I really was fuming when I left his shop. Especially since I do like his work and own 3 of his hats. You'd think he'd have a bit more customer curtesy, never had a problem with stuff I'd brought him before. He has re-worked a couple old resistols of mine and they shine like a new penny now. But, no mas! Dropped him from my facebook and instagram accounts too.
