Two hat day, but a picture of just one. Just arrived 1930s Stetson topper:

If this isn't deadstock you could probably count on one hand how many times this hat has been worn. More details in the Toppers Unite thread.

(The other hat was a grey Marathon.)
Boy, do you look happy. [emoji1]

I love cool, sunny fall days.

Black Sheep Hat Works custom natural beaver felt with hand dyed crown ribbon, paired with a silk Saville Row jacket and a guayabera from Ecuador.

This hat has the thinnest felted brim of any hat I've ever owned. Only Panama and parabuntal straw is as thin/thinner.

I had to come back and look at that one some more. The natural beaver is subtle. It becomes more compelling the longer you look at it.

In your profession you probably never worked out of town or out of country, but there's a lot of truth in his lyrics. The local women are always looking for an outsider to take them away & the local men resent it. That's how it always starts.
That has really wide applications, HJ. Makes you think.

I have missed a ton of great posts the past few days!
While I catch up, please indulge me by viewing my recent hat smattering.

Reworked my BGCD and I think I prefer it this way:

Also reworked my black beaver by Dennis Brooks @DRB with a little teardrop:

Have a ducky day!

Powered by happy thoughts
I have major feelings of yearning.
That hat could be my daily driver, I think.

Dont't you hate those WTF moments. Last month I took my pure beaver santa fe monticristi hat to my (former) favorite local hat maker, Nathaniels in Georgetown to have him recrease it for me. Then yesterday I dropped by with my Stetson straw Medalist to see if he could sew the sweatband back in where it was coming loose and to enquire about the status of my Monticristi felt. His wife said she would fix the sweat right away and to come back later in the afternoon as she would ask Nate to recrease the hat since he hadn't touched it yet. I come back and the Stetson straw was all stitched up and ready to go. She hands be back the Monticristi and and says Nate couldn't reshape the hat because it wont accept any steam. WTF? I ask why is that and Nate comes out and shrugs his shoulders saying he couldn't do anything with the hat and tells me not to bring in repairs anymore as he is backed up with new hat orders. I have 3 hats from Nataniels and they have done several repairs and recreases over the last couple years. Pretty poor customer service or having a bad day, I left pretty pissed off. So, today I'm wearing my Nathaniels willow one last time before I retire them all to the back of my hat closet. Guess I'll be visiting David at Texas Hatters alot more in the near future.
