Smart looking Gene. You need a lamp post to lean against. I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but it's the way I imagine the get-up. As you get along this post, maybe it'll make more sense ( hic...)

'kay... just got back from my go-to drinking establishment***, having donned my new "Something". So, without further ado, here is, the "Something"...

Dig the circles under my eyes :( ...
For more on the "Something", see page 137 of " Post New Hats Here"

Looks good, St. Ignatz -- wish some of that sun were here today.

Gene -- that "Flat Cap Friday" shot exudes attitude. I love it.

J.T. -- Great shot. What can you tell us about that Sears lid? Who made it? etc.

Cheers,
JtL

My Stetson "Standard Quality," in dark brown. (I have a feeling that, way back then, "Standard" did not mean "bottom of the line.")

It may be the most versatile hat I own. It is actually a Homburg, but the felt is so pliable that I can freely and quickly change the shape of either crown or brim. (Hint: Think vintage Borsalino.)

Sorry, JtL, but I don't know anything more about it. I do remember that Sears had a long history of contracting with quality producers (who were after a larger market share), to put the Sears label on their products. Cameras were sometimes made by Ricoh, rifles and shotguns by Winchester, and CARS by Kaiser.

Alas, someone else will have to weigh in on the likely maker of this hat.

^Great bow daizawaguy!:eusa_clap I'm gonna need one like that.

My Schoble XX from Johhnyphi. Done up with a center dent bash.
Do you think a diamond or c-crown would be more appropriate? I'm new at it, and I'm following the leads I see here.

Thanks pals - I had fun on Friday, attitude 'n all. :D

daizawaguy, that is one squared away lid, man. Sharp as a knife.

J.T., as soon as I saw your first photo, I thought, "That hat really, really looks a lot like one of my vintage Borsalinos - the one that works equally well in snap-brim or Homburg style." Then I saw your second photo and your note. Great hat fiends collect alike. :D

BOLTY, good to see ya' man!!

rumblefish, I say a center dent is a very proper crease for a hat of that vintage. Great score, by the way. Personally, I don't have a favorite or 'right' crease for fedoras. Each one kinda' seems to let me know how it wants to be when I start fiddling with it and I go with that.

Today I had a Mardi Gras themed gig. I wore my modern black Stetson Temple and a sort of loud shirt. Can't seem to get Photobucket to cooperate so can't upload the do-it-yourself shot I took. [huh]
