I don't think I've ever posted a noggin shot of this one -- a Stetson 3X Open Road, probably from the early 60-ish timeframe. I wear this one brim down all around. I really like the fact that the edge binding is a light silver belly, while the thin ribbon itself is a light green:

That is a great hat, but it's this picture and the ones like it... One of the first things I really took notice of on this site ( that, and DOUGLAS' hats ). It has a "nostalgic" look about it that would work in any time up through the 1970's, and would make a hat wearer out of even the most self concious person. Very nice.

Today I had a Mardi Gras themed gig. I wore my modern black Stetson Temple and a sort of loud shirt.

...there's not been a bad hat here in a long time. Not even close. Well, my Temple is close to being bad but other than that,...

Gene, I took a close look at that Temple. Not a bad hat! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Nice of you to say so, Kiltie. Much appreciated.

Very nice. Please show more of that one (liner and such) and wear it more often. It's a beauty. :eusa_clap

If that's the kind of hat that has you on the fence, you're favorites must be pretty fantastic. Thanks for the shots.

Great hats, fellas.

J.T., the thing I don't care for on the Temple is the tapered crown. Not much material to work with up there on the moderns but you're right, it's not "bad". :)
About your McAndrew: Having established myself as not liking a lot of taper, I think that your hat here may actually benefit from some. The diamond crease just doesn't seem as natural to this hat as to a Stratoliner, for instance. With the McAndrew's crown proportions and that wide ribbon it just seems to call for a center dent which I think might make your portrait shot all the better.

More swell lids but ...

this photo of Michaelshane in his Stratoliner is classic. The composition is superb. This has to be among the top five pictures I've ever seen in the Hats Forum. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Gene, I think you're absolutely right! Many thanks. :)
