That's my open road clone in camel/butternut 100% beaver:)

Deanzat can we see that suit?

It's just a pinstripe double-breasted suit. When I put it on this morning, I told my wife I must have had the lapels shipped in from 1952! I probably bought it back when I was a corporate guy (1986-1999).

I literally have not dressed up for years, and it really did feel more like a costume than a suit. But it made me remember how the balance of power in trivial daily encounters shifts toward one who dresses well. I call it the tailor cocktail: one part confidence in one's appearance, two parts deference from people seeking leadership.

As a Kinko's executive, I used to visit stores every week. Once, I was working in Berkeley during our busiest week. I was the only coworker wearing a tie, and every customer with a question or problem came directly to me. The next day, the store manager wore a tie.

I need to blog about this: one of the arguments AGAINST corporate dress codes is that they hide more than they reveal. At Kinko's Northwest we eschewed dress codes, believing that people would dress to the level of their ambition. We could see who wanted to achieve, who paid attention to detail, etc. You cannot judge a book by its cover, but people are not books. They have some choice in the matter.

Sorry, I had a lot of coffee today.... Z

Just looking at a hat like that earlier, Dinerman. There's a vendor on ebay doing closeouts on Hannas. That one's awfully nice...

Here's my hat today, along with my SECOND most obnoxious shirt. High 60's today after three pm, so I felt it was okay to go a little tropical. Old Banana Republic fur felt:

HOWEVER -
United Parcel rang the doorbell about an hour ago, so I have two more posts to make; one on the "new hats" thread, and one at the "Open Road Guild" ;) ...

So I walked through my little town to get lunch. Two people asked if I was going "to rehearsal." A young woman on a bicycle shouted that I looked sharp, but I suspect she was humoring the old man. I'll take it anyway...

Thanks, guys, for the Stetsonian feedback. Interesting reference. Mine appears to be about the same color as the Stetson Jimmy wore the same day. :)

Inside it has a perfect sweat band and still maintains a piece of protective acetate over the emblem on the liner:

What's really interesting to me about this liner is the fact that the protective material does not extend all the way to the seam, but seems to occupy a smaller area. I'm not sure I've ever seen that before in a Stetson liner.

Cheers,
JtL
