I hate to say it, but I think this is a cool hat.
It's non-standard western. It has a nice, tall crown.
And I like the loose shackle curl. The brim is, with the
curl, effectively narrow for a cowboy hat, so it is less
of a statement and more of an everyday hat.
Overall, there's a nice nod to old fashioned cowboy
hats there, in a smaller hat that one can wear any time.
Holds its form nicely over the years, too- is it decent felt?
Now I'll go back to being a vintage fedora snob.
Thanks Feltfan, I should say its great felt. This hat was a present from my grandmother right at 30 years ago.feltfan said:I have been trying to resist comment.

Yeah, but it's a Hamilton!J.T.Marcus said:I'm still getting a kick out of Western week. Stetson 4X Beaver. (For all the photographers out there, I know this picture breaks the rule about having the action go into the picture, and toward the center. I did one like that, but this treatment seemed to work even better.)
