That must be the black cherry before Winchester reworked their dye formula. I prefer the old color like yours with more cherry and less black. Sadly, we haven’t seen much of @Chamuco lately.

I have been noticing the absence of quite a few of our Lounge Brothers of late. I miss @moehawk @mmbarnes @Chamuco and so many more. Maybe the new format has scared them off? Feeling kind of :(

Way to make a straw look classy D! Love the color on that Biltmore with that suit.

I think this was a fine choice for a summer straw Pat. I like the weave. Detail shots would be nice.

Thank you kind sir. The more I wear it, the more i like it. :)

I just finished roasting some coffee and have several hours until guests arrive for the town's 4th of July fireworks show (held on the weekend vs in the middle of the work week). So I went out onto the deck and took some pictures. If I've missed some detail you're interested in, or you'd like a closer shot of something, please don't hesitate to ask.

Very nice. I think you will appreciate the ventilation as the summer progresses. It is good to see a Mayser in captivity here in the USA. Now you need a vintage German felt!

Thank you Red, when it hit 101F with above 80F dew points twice last week, I *LOVED* this hat!

We're not used to that weather in southern New England. The last time it hit 100F was back in 2012! [emoji26]

When I went down to Delmonico Hatter, earlier this summer, I was looking at one of their finely woven straw hats and even in the store it felt ... "closed". I guess that's the best word I can think of for the feeling. So I asked the gentleman helping me and he said that a good straw simply won't have much in the way of airflow and that in fact really good ones can be so airtight that they can hold water! So based on that experience and information, I tried on a Mayser Imperia Panama with an open weave and bought it. We had a 7+ day heat wave here in southern New England with a couple days over 100F and I had no issues with this one.

I still want a nice, finely woven Panama too, but it wouldn't be for days when it's so hot and humid ... my Mayser would be for those days. :)

How was the fit on that Mayser?, my 58 seemed to run just a little bit large, had to put in a spacer.

I have four Stetsons (bought over the past 30-ish years) that are all 59 (7 3/4) ... The Mayser 58 fits identically. It definitely runs a hair large in comparison.

Oddly enough my measured head diameter is 60cm (both by myself and the salesman at Delmonico). <shrug>

Greetings All:
In spite of some most stellar feller hat’s of late. I’m still walkin in circles over Doc’s CC and Tuk’s Black Cherry!!!
I will continue on with today’s diminutive Borsalino.
If you’ve ever had the pleasure of wearing an unlined Vagabond you would appreciate this little guy. So comfy and light! Unreeded, corrugated sweat. No name in Caffe.
Be well. Bowen
