I still remember when I was a boy we were vacationing in Phoenix and I left a bagfull of plastic toys in the car. When we came back to it the whole bag was a ball of melted green plastic.

It's the ambient exterior temperature. But after 10 or so hours sitting in an open tarmac parking lot surrounded by other hunks of steel casting off reflected heat. Once I pulled out and got going, it dove down to something more believable. It's been in the 90s the last few days.

But it was still friggin' hot in that car!
