Good morning. As I am sharing am sharing what hats I have been wearing this morning I am struck that it has been a light colored felt theme that I have going on. This has not been a deliberate plan. Light felt theme - game on.

I was outside in the intermitant rain yesterday evening. A VS Wanderer (inspired by the vtg.Stetson model) in an Artlite silverbelly felt was a perfect lightweight summer felt.

This morning I started a dog walk in a Gannon (bone beaver with matching ribbon treatment).

Edited:

Back from the dog walk early. On the dog walk we saw and heard in the distance a black beer rummaging in some large bushes. Seeing a bear is not normal. After a call to the local Forest Service officer the dogs and I scooted home. Below is a better pic of the Gannon hat with a small bit of perspiration on the leather sweat.

Here's my trusty ol' whie Panama Jack I mentioned a few pages back. Finally was able to "by hook and by crook" crop the images tight enough that even when saved for the web they would finally upload to the website here.

Stopped in at Texas Hatters in Lockhart TX this morning, almost ordered this beaver / straw halfbreed, but $900.00 <sigh> I just couldn't do it. Love the look. :)

Cool-looking hat, but yeah; $900.00 is a little outta my price range too. Who am I kidding? It's a LOT outta my price range....

Holy longhorn! that’s a little bit of sticker shock! I must admit the brim curls from Texas Hatters are the best I’ve seen, but certainly not $900 good!
I can’t quite understand why many custom western jobs are so pricey.

I ended yesterday with my Falcon Park Virtuoso, and a baseball cap from Niagara Falls... had some fun exploring the country, and playing with a new piece of furniture I found for a steal at an antique shop to display my pipe collection.

Beginning this somewhat cloudy chilly morning on a coffee date with this Beaver Brand 5X. I messed with it years ago and was never able to get it back to its original state, but still a trusty lid on occasion.

Texas Hatters has a number of offerings that I would like to have, the halfbreed being one of them.
Could be one of the pinnacles in a nice collection. I'm sure Dualists/Duplexes/Halfbreeds are a lot more labor intensive to make, thus the price.

A shopping errand to pick up country style pork ribs for grilling had me sport'n a vintage Mallory mid-ribbon.

I started the fire and got to work getting hot coals. A cap was my head choice for this sweaty work.

i-vMhbgT5-M.jpg

Back home and putting the meat on the coals and "supervising" the grilling I switched to a Milan. The warm job has me enjoying the vintage Adam straw hat and a cup of coffee. Supervising is a tough job.

Felt days coming for a while. Today I brought out the 1950s Knox Premier Strat Clone. Love this hat, it may rain today, protection.

I really like that hat Red.

Such a lovely summer suit Michael. The Melvin is a perfect match.
Thanks Red. I switched over to my boater for the bike ride and while I was in my favorite thrift the lady stocking a rack looked at me and said "You're wearing the suit" Then she asked if I got it there last week and told me about hanging the jacket out a couple of weeks ago and then last week finding the pants to go with it. I had passed on the jacket because I have similar, but when the pants were added, at no increase in price, I jumped on that bandwagon. Very comfortable hot weather wear.

On a cloudy morning after some overnight rain it's Mallory The Dallas

Cool this morning,Borsalino until it heats up.
Nice to have some time with the Borso before the temps going up.

My Stetson long hair is leaving today for a new sweat and ribbon at VS.

This one should come back as a real showpiece Brent. Love the finish.

Any one of our resident hatters could create this for half this money. Probably same or better quality also. I only paid $325 from NW Hats for my Duplex Fedora.

Love the Cury. Envy the Nikon.

I like your style Eric. A thematic parade, very enjoyable.

Great find on that collection case. That Beaver is a looker Jeff!

Not to mention the sacrificing of TWO hat bodies to make one hat!

Cool pic! Smoke & mirrors?

Trying to look like an "ol timey" photograph.

Sounds like a perfect day! I do love that Milan, all of your hats actually, but the Milan caught my eye.

Thanks, that Knox is one of my favorites. I like your Dallas for the same reasons. Great hat.

Watching the tennis French Open finals and the spectator's panamas. Hugh Grant had one identical to mine, royal blue ribbon and all.

It is just great to see so many hats in the crowd shots in general. Yours is a perfect example of a fine straw, just like the rich people at the tennis match.

Hahaha. The price of the ticket might be more than the cost of the hats.
Now I am alarmed because Nadal's left hand is hurt. He's up two sets to zero, but he might have to quit... Damn!

Off to the store for supplies and essentials for the cruise next week. Nice cool day, wearing the Hückel Special from the Flying Finn. The blue gray color of this one makes it a contender for what hats will go with us to Alaska. Have to start planning for that.

Great looking felt and the proportions are classics. Understand that we will expect photos from the cruise. :)

Sorry to hear about your wife’s broken arm. We’re all hoping for a speedy and pain-free recovery.

Texas Hatters do seem to have gotten quite proud of their hats in the last few years. I go to Catalena Hatters in Bryan when I thinking about customs. They also keep a good stock of straws on hand this time of year. Most of the stock is westerns but if you talk to them they usually have some dress weight felts in stock and are more than willing to help design any kind of hat.
