Jaxonbilt 10x this morning.
Super hat Bob. The cord hat band is showy. Isn't their some official name for this style of band, I am missing it.

Dobbs Hanover Square gets the call again on a very chilly morning

Off for a little trip to the library in a bit.
Hope your Saturday is getting off to a good start
Michael
One of your sharper looks of late. Good that the weather is breaking so you can look this good, instead of the Nanook of the the North garb. Still loving that Dobbs.

Resistol Stagecoach

Cheers!

The details of this hat are what draw me. The brim treatment and highlights on the ribbon really are special David.

Nice Resistol Richard, it looks like a daily driver, go-to hat.

Knox Custom for a bright but chilly Saturday. One of my “beaters”.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Not bad for a beater Mike, very nice looking Knox.

Knowing where I fall in the ranks of hat collectors (Matt sporting a General’s hat today for example) I’m headed out in a Resistol Trooper.

Starship Trooper! When it comes to comparing myself to the other collectors around here, Dirty Harry's quote comes to mind..."A man has got to know his limitations."

Looks great Bob! A real super trooper!

Thanks Ed!

Thanks Mike! Yep ... like a fellow once told me “there’s always someone with a better beard” (or hat, car, etc.).

Heading out under Brig. Gen. Waters' Superfine Knox.

I can't help but wonder what sort of tie dye jackets he wore when, during his tenure as warden, he was reading aloud the death warrants of the condemned at the Oklahoma state pen's death house. Perhaps I'm on the wrong track there, though...

Did just find out that he had a law degree. That's kind of neat.

Have a superduper and satisfying Saturday.

Ha!

This hat would be beautiful just as it sits (on your head), but this history of the General is priceless. It is cool that he was a PMS at the "other" OSU! Usually you just see a bird Colonel in these positions. Great history Matt, makes my heart go pitter patter!

Thanks Mike.
Yeah... I like the concept that "the history makes the hat." Checking all that stuff out certainly makes the journey down the hat collecting highway even more gratifying.

That Trooper is wicked.

A belated Thanks Matt. Looking great under the General's hat today, by the way.

Thanks Bob. Yes, I do like that tie. And it does seem to match up with this hat pretty well too.

Thanks Roger. Seemed liked some good clothes to relax away a Saturday.

Thanks all,
Michael

Thanks Michael.

I can see see why that Hanover is near the top in your mind. It's a great looking hat.

Thanks Red. It was still a bit chilly out there today. I'm hoping for a long spring season this year.

Thanks Michael.

Thanks Matt. It does seem to sit on my head in a comfortable manner.

Thanks all,
Michael

I didn’t realize she works with straw. Fantastic look. I like that pinch.
Straw hats are not the only string to this lady's talented bow. When I described a 1930's suit to her, and before it had been made, she came up with the perfect felt to accompany it. I can't even remember if I sent her a swatch of material that the tailor had sent me. No matter, the combination is exquisite.

When this '50s Royal Stetson came to me a couple months ago, it arrived with a very mushy open crown. I decided that I needed to have it reblocked and set it aside.

Last night I tried to steam it to see if I could get it to behave. I just couldn't get it right. There is a photo of the awful results below.

I wore the hat when I met with a friend last evening all the while fidgeting with it and apologizing to my friend for my inability to stop obsessing over it. He agreed that despite my every effort, something was off. Eventually, I stopped trying to force the felt and just started to let it go where it naturally wanted to go.

It is now obvious why a tear drop and center dent would not work. It's been a pork pie for a long, long time.

Really pretty blues and reds in the felt.

Have the great Friday.

I was all set to jump on the silverbelly OR bandwagon with the Daves, but then I saw that porky of Matts with the pink infused ribbon. Don't seem to be able to make up my mind now which heathered hat to go with. A Pilgrim that was a gift from that upstanding gentleman and noted propane line repairman, Bob Hufford,

Both will do, but the first one works best with the combination I think, Michael.

I think I have the exact same hat (but a few sizes smaller), Daniele. Great colour, felt and shape.
