Thanks Red. That was a great little hat you were under today. Hope your squad won.

Ha ha, did you steal my Monkee Wards pants Bob? Nice looking Resistol, but I think a color like Charcoal might be favored for burning attire.

Thanks all,
Michael
We did win, with a season best score. The Oregon State Ladies are at number 11 in the nation in Gymnastics.

Sergej, my grandfather had seen destruction, horror and death, yet he was a simple man, mild and in love with life.
He had the misfortune, for reasons of age, to take part, as a draft soldier, in the Italo-Turkish war of 1911-12 and then as a soldier recalled to the First World War. He was an alpine mountain artillery. He took part in the battles in the Alps up to the end of November 1918 up to the first months of 1919 as an occupation troop in Autria. He survived the Spanish fever and when he returned his family was gone.
He has built a new life, marrying my grandmother, who lost her boyfriend in the war, and becoming a true peaceful lover of life in all its manifestations.
I have had his stories on the horror of the battlefields, rare and very tight, to recall how bad it had been for his generation.
I visited with him, when I was a kid, some of these places, and when we arrived where he had fought, he remained silent for hours. Then he spoke about some amusing anecdote to resume living with his quiet love of life.
I keep his medals and his memories
As a WWI historian, I thank you for sharing his special story. To be able to learn about his service first hand is a gift that few have experienced. You made me weep Daniele.

Got a second hat in Australia.

Just outside Sydney, went to The Hattery. Lovely, very helpful ladies there, and a great selection of Akubras and other hats. Tried on a bunch of contenders, but decided on a Banjo Patterson in black. Years ago, I debated hard between a Lawson and a Banjo Patterson, and went with the Lawson. So now I've got the other.

You know how the days after you you buy a new hat, seeing it on yourself out of the hat store, it sometimes seems different to you? My other Akubras, I liked even more. This one, I'm not sure about yet. I really liked it in the store, but now the crown seems a little more rounded to me. And since I have a massive noggin, (7 7/8 or 63, Long Oval) I'm very sensitive to hats that that have a really tall crown or wide brim. This brim is great, but I'm not sure how the taller brim works with my big head.

I like it! Not my usual style of hat, but this one is a contender. A little steam and shaping and you should settle in to this one with no problem. Love your pictures.

Size tag, manufacturers label point to mid 50s. Store price tag for $18 is more like late 60s which I don’t believe this hat is. More pics in New Hats thread
Have a great weekend

I will definitely be checking this one out. Love that ribbon.

Took another hat to see its birth city: my optimo.
I wish I had it in the budget to adopt a sibling for it.
Also, I’m a little acrophobic. Trying to smile while my
Knuckles turn white from gripping the balcony rail so tightly!

Gorgeous hat! Don't let it blow off in the windy city.

Wearing the Czech Traveler, as I call it. It's an old antique store find from a while back. Floppy felt that can be rolled up easily. Made in the Czech Republic.

Nice and comfy looking.

Hey all!
Whoa.
I looked.at mmbarnes pics and the next thing I knew I was three miles from home in a tree.
Dude...
And then, when I went home I just had this urge to put on this 40,'s Game Bird.

Have a great day!

Bird is the word! (now this song is stuck in your head for a couple of days!)

Saturday and a touch of snow. Standing under a mid-50s Royal Stetson Whippet.
Sent directly from my mind to yours.
Classic looking Jim. My dream hat.

Today it’s the Mystery Black. It’s the spittin image of a Stetson The Boss Raw Edge i posted in “The Fray”. Nice felt, stiffer, maybe not worn as much. I kinda like it.
Be well. Bowen
I think the "Mystery Black" is a fitting name, you should keep calling it that.

Woke up late to discover a light rain and no wind. Brush burning time! Tossed on a jacket and boots along with my new work hat ... a Resistol that I just added a leather rough-out band to. Excuse the look. I call it "Accidental @Michael A "... :D

I wore a vintage Lee Desert Tones fedora yesterday evening while grilling dinner.

This morning yard chores and a dog walk in a vtg. Stetson Stratoliner.

I am grilling fish for a mid morning meal. A modern Gannon was the perfect hat for the task. Oh yes, a Founders Porter was the beverage of choice.
