While heavy sleet was falling (and still is falling) I tried on several hats to go with the greatcoat, which proved two things to me. First: it's hard to match a colour precisely. Second: I need more grey hats! None of my hats matched the coat exactly but a few of them came close. The coat leans towards the blue end of the spectrum (looks a bit green on my screen). Borsalino Selenio I wore today was a nice match (a bit darker).
As for the coat: here's a full view of it. No labels whatsoever inside it, but I remember the saleswoman saying it was eastern European (either Russian or Polish production). It was a quick picture and I need to practice my military posture:)

Now that's what I call a fine looking coat! I would definitely wear that!

Hey all!
Tis the season for green hats!
This Alpenland Trachten that I got a few days ago is quite green. Even has a great seasonal color name...cypress!

It's a mystery as to where in the German speaking world it was made. All there is is a tip sticker and a generic looking factory tag. No stamps on the thin unreeded green sweat.

The felt is thick, stiff (especially the underwelted brim) and has a coarse, hairy feel to the hand. I thought maybe a wool blend, but then I have a P. & C. Habig with a similar finish. Having no experience with European wools or blends I can't say for sure, but it is much more pliable than the Litefelt and Dynafelt hats I have had in the past.
I wonder if I can find a tiny string of lights to put on it...:)
Have a great day!

Good afternoon. Busy past couple of days has me catching up. Great hat and cap parade of late!:)

Friday evening I was outside enjoying the lakeside in a vtg. Stetson Playboy. I was chuckling at the antics of our dogs in the snow.

Saturday evening I was grilling dinner in a vtg. Stetson Bantam.

Very rich green color. I'm interested as to the story of this one. Maybe it is a "jobber" hat, made for a department store chain?

You can make a trachtenhut look cool, John (which is quite difficult to do). As far as my experience goes they all are sturdy hats; very much an outdoors hat.

Went out for errands in our bitter cold snap. It has been cold like Minnesota for over a week. No snow, but damn...
Heavy black overcoat and my Barbisio "Rat Gondin" (Nutria) Homburg. This hat's diminutive lines just called for a sporty diamond crease. A playful Lobbia!

A nutria Barbisio homburg? That ticks all the boxes, Mike. Now you have me wanting one. Great looking hat.
