So it goes in the autumn with hot or cool days without logic
Today morning with cold breeze and sun almost out of the clouds, warm in the afternoon

Vintage borsalino in brown with shark gill ribbon matching the felt

"Folco" color and three zig-zag seams to finish the brim

It is another of the hats that arrive from Merano where the pleated ribbon is very represented in the field

The hat is light, just for these days

A weekend of intermittent internet, so I'm catching up. For the most part, I donned either the whiskey VS, or, since (because of Al Gore) it was STILL in the upper 80s to 90 degrees F, the PHD Special Reserve.

Also a weekend with three under three...

c.1950s (store label reads 1951, maybe this is the date of manufacture?) Stetson Flagship. First time ever steaming a crease into a hat. old profile was really strange, so i put it into a "diamond-ish" crease, and lowered the pinch some. Heres the result. Not too bad for the first attempt

Lovely family pic there, Charlie. You're well hatted too, as usual.

Deer bone? Please share the technique, or the Youtube vid!! You have my attention, sir!

Charlie, some of the high end makers used to supply a piece of deer bone with their shoes, especially shell cordovan to smooth out the creases and minor nicks. The round side of spoon using a little conditioner or shoe cream will provide similar results.

There are several YouTube vids showing "polishing shoes with a deer bones".

Thank you, Greg. Something else to obsess over! Will shed antlers work?
