pomp and circumstance

Saw a lot of flat caps over the past few days at two graduations, 12 hours and 550 miles apart. A bit weary now after a wonderful weekend.

Just like at Christmas, after the festivities, it was boxing day.

Thanks for the comments, Richard and Jeff.

Great flat caps in the graduation shots, Allan.

Hot/Humid again today - Portis Milan in an effort to stay cool. Actually, I'll be cranking the office AC and staying indoors!

Alan - your deserved pride comes through in that smile.

David - Great minds think alike (or fools seldom differ ;) ), I went with a grey straw with burgundy pug today too. I have to say your Milan is somewhat nicer than the basic straw I wore though!

Andy - interesting belt band on that Sunbody.

AL - great set of photos, and great set of hats. I think if I was forced to pick a favourite it would be Saturday's.

Jeff, that is a fine hat that Beaver brand. What is the original shape?

David, great hat and a nice colored ribbon!

B.J, I think it works good for you and for me, you look good with him!

Richard, very nice hat the Kendall and works good with your suit together!

Al, that looks like a fantastic weekend for hat friends. Wonderful group photo with Robert, Graham and your Son!
I see, that you all wearing sharp Panamas, right so!!

Andy, looks good the natural colored Sunbody, nice hatband too!

Alan, a wonderful day. I can see on the photos, ( great photos by the way ) a very proud Mom and a very proud Dad. My Congratulation to all!

Thank you for good wishes! Lots of hard to describe emotions, interspersed with heavy lifting.

AL, I don't remember seeing an optima block worn better than by the bloke in your photo. Wonderful pictures and a good weekend to get Robert out of Evanston. It was total gradlock in all our favorite locations.

Looks good Sam.

Alan - nice hat, you definitely look a little de-saturated still :D

--------

Squinting into the sunshine in a bargain Biltmore. Yes the tie is too matchy :(

The sun is making the hat look a little shiny, but apart from the ribbon it's honestly quite matt.

The Artist hard(ly) at work sportin' his Resistol Conversion (modeled it after the Akubra Bushman). I don't even know why I post anymore. I've got almost a dozen other hats and for the last two years, this is about all I wear......anybody else have this problem with "Addicted to your Beater" syndrome?

Nice Portis, David.

Thanks, Rusty

Maybe we'll get some rain in Cleveland today. My Sunbody and one of my Tommy Singer bolos.

How do you like the Sunbody, Andy? The only palmleaf hat I've owned (not that brand I think) was really heavy and not comfortable to wear for any length of time. I wonder if the Sunbody hats are lighter to wear?

David: Looking cool if not feeling cool.

Thanks Al. looks as though were having a blast at Montecristifest!

Cheers, Richard! I really like the grey/burgundy colour combo. Looks good on your Biltmore too.

David, great hat and a nice colored ribbon!

Thank you Manfred. When I first saw this Portis on eBay I knew I'd be putting this pug on it when it arrived. The one that was on the hat is on one of my wife's straw hats now. Good thing with pugs, so easy to swap around and change the feel of the hats (especially for someone like me totally incapable of sewing to fit a ribbon)

Sam - today was a good day for the PB Cuenca.

Alan - great looking Leghorn.

Javier - super family shots, looks as though you all had a great time.

RJ - I remember when you first converted that Resistol from a big old western. Still looks great on you.

Well thank you, DJH! I think so. I wished I had more to post but I almost never wear anything else. I'm either in this or a cowboy hat. This time of year when I'm only wearing a shirt to be polite to you folks, it's just this hat and shorts. Period. Hopelessly addicted to my beater....
