That's a great looking thin-ribbon, Hatophile. Can you provide some more info on that one?

Thanks, JTL,

I got this one off Ebay over a year ago. It was a Royal Deluxe Stetson, but did not have an Open Road designation on it. It was in need of cleaning and a little small, so I sent it to Optimo for a rework. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the original sweat and liner, so I couldn't tell the age, etc. right now. I suspect it was a 50's era hat. I hardly ever see this color, and that was before I got a Bluegrass Campdraft, so I went for it.

Good decision. Stetson thin-ribbons in that color are few and far between, and that one is a beauty.

Cheers,

Well last night we had our first snow, not much just enough to make the morning no fun. So today I pulled out my Safari hat that I bought at the Orvis Tent sale about 7 years ago. It's khaki with a cowhide band and vents on the side, a little on the heavy side so it takes a beating If you are near Manchester VT on Columbus Day weekend go to this sale the prices are out of this world. I payed $5.00 for this. I have a Stetson that I also paid $5.00 for that you will see later. This one is Marked Orvis inside. Anyone have an idea of who really made this hat?

Thanx Jeff

Donned the antique panama again today to head off to the local Farmers' Markets. Turns out I misspoke about this hat last time. It's not a refurb job at all. It was part of a stock of near 100 year old hat bodies from a New York hatter that went out of business in 1915. Tom Gomez has done a great job creating this hat out of that old body.

100 year old straw!!! that's impressive, I didn't think it would last that long without decomposing...
