Hard to say exactly but after '51 and before 70's. Color is Arcolio which I can find no translation or definition for(although arc=arc and olio=oil) the ribbon is Terbio(Terbium another heavy element). Kind of the color of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

That is a nice Open Road, sir! If I may ask, what is the crown height on this one? Have you measured it? It strikes me as being somewhat low-crowned, but with the cattleman's crease it looks good. Also, how old is the hat? Thank you, I would like to know because I am considering a similar style for Christmas!

Thanks J.B. It is a Stetson especially made for Shepler's and has a proprietary liner so stating. The crown height is indeed a bit low, even lower than other ORs, measuring in at 4 1/4 inches to the top of the center crease and five inches to the center ridges. I think 4 1/2 inch is the general standard for the current mfg. OR. The brim is 2 3/4 inches with the standard narrow brim binding. The color is not depicted well in the photo; it is much more of a cocoa color that is different from anything I've seen. It is not marked Open Road on the sweatband and I have not yet looked under the sweat to see the tag there. It just came yesterday morning and all I've done is brush it. It came off e-Bay for $10.00 and I thought it was a steal given it is beaver and near new. I have three others with cattlemen's creases and will post them for you when I get them out of storage. I hope this helps.

Now THAT's the Open Road as I remember 'em :) My father wore his with the brim snapped down in front as I wear mine !! You say "new" as in a current model and color?

Thank you sir. I said new as in I just got it that morning. I believe it is probably a '60s or '70s model and was made for Shepler's Western wear by Stetson. This style has been worn by me and one of my grandfathers exclusively until I got into fedoras some years back. I am still an addict for them and pick one up whenever I see a variation I like. I will try to post photos of the hat, liner, and sweat in the next few days in New Hats.

Stetson St. Regis. I changed the crease a little too, to accommodate some side taper.

As usual, the color is a bit brighter than it should be on the Photo Booth software of the Mac. But the hat is really light colored in person, so it's somewhat accurate. Might wear this one to and from church tomorrow, if I go.
