Damn! That is a beautiful, rich brown felt hat, too. In Mexico we just say "váyanse a la mie....a"
That hat's gotta have a lot of character. Wasn't Cabella about outdoorsy people?

I didn't even wear the hat on the job. I kept it at my desk. The email said no personal shirts, jackets, or hats in the gun vault. They pick and choose who they want to enforce their unwritten rules on; very inconsistent application.

I actually wrote my resignation letter a month ago. No hats is the final straw.

Dang. Was it the hat, beard or both? Now you have me worried. It was great "working" with you for awhile. At least you went out in style!
You, too, Bob. I don't think you have to worry. This has a lot to do with the local assistant GM having some sort of personal problem with me. He tried to write me up for calling out sick on all Thursdays since 1/4/2018.... when Thursday was my scheduled day off. The KRONOS software messed up when my schedule changed me to having Fridays off. He's a passive aggressive little man with a neurotic grudge of some kind. He does this while "protecting" a co-worker at the same time.

I just decided enough was enough. A letter will go to BOLI tomorrow about all of it (Bureau of Labor and Industries).

Thanks, Michael. Excellent straw and the pug is elegant and understated; love it.
Thanks Stefan. That was my first Hopoka find and it is my favorite pug of the two.

Lovely colours, Michael. And I like the organic crease on it.
Thanks again, Stefan.

Daggone, I sure hate to hear that, but I understand your frustration! I hope you find another job soon, if you need/want one!

Being a public servant sure has its down sides sometimes. I get lectured about the length of my mustache periodically too, but in the last couple years they let the young guys start wearing shorts in the summer as part of their "uniform" and showing their tattoos. I have nothing personal against either on the average person, but I don't think they are a professional look for firefighters and medics in our part of the country. I firmly believe the older folks who are some of our most frequent customers expect more, but then many are sick enough that they don't care as long as somebody helps them. As soon as I retire in just a few short years, OUT goes the razor!

With me, it’s a wool uniform (no shorts) and no visible tattoos, etc. Conservative hairstyle that doesn’t touch the collar or the ears. 70+ pages in the manual. I might not always like it, but it is at least uniformly applied and enforced.

I hope my first post didn’t come across flippant. Even if it was a long time coming, losing a job is not fun. Being subjected to discriminatory practices by a supervisor also sucks (been there). I wish you the best of luck.

That's my main complaint, the inconsistent application of unwritten (and written) rules. I have no problem following the employee handbook on dress code or anything else.

I wear a hat every day. Heck, after surviving malignant melanoma and the biopsies and related surgery, my dermatologist demands it. I wore a hat to my interviews, to every day of orientation and every day to work thereafter. "If you have any personal items in the vault please remove ASAP" just hit me wrong this morning. So I removed my hat, and myself, and went home. My hat goes with me.

Forgot to take off my MacLachlan before getting in the boat. Caught this one on the second cast, then it started to rain...
Then a rainbow, then I found another Lounge.

Three of the great ones. The quality of the Germans seems to be giving Borsalino a run for their money. Love the brim on that Resolut.

Agnoulita “flecked fur” and the color is “natural.” Ribbon by VS.

This fuzzy guy is in the “love it or hate it” category.

I'm moving to the love it side. I think it would be a great cold winter day hat, bright and sunny to pick up the highlights of the furry, yes. I'd do it.

Borchert Berlin W. possibly early 1950s.

"Berlin W" interesting. Love that brim stitching and the pleated ribbon. Very nice.

I am wearing my new MacLachlan... Sign in the bar near my cabin

Words to live by...

I wore my Penman Everyman in to work today. About 90 minutes later an email about the dress code hit my inbox. I read it around 11:35 am and dropped my tan Cabela's shirt, security badge and name tag on the wall "inbox" of the Asst General Manager's desk just after I clocked out for the last time at about 12:54 pm.
So this lid can be known as my Take This Job and Shove It Fedora, or TTJSIF. Ha!

This is just sad. I can see personal things like no beards, but they can't regulate what you wear on your head. Totally Chicken Feces. I'm sorry it had to come to this, but of all the "last straws" there could possibly be, damn!

Spent the day at an Oral History gig for the Oregon Century Farm & Ranch Program. Gathering the stories of these historic farms that have been in the same families for over a century. Perfect day for the Granite Whippet Clone from NW Hats to make it's maiden voyage. Granite beaver, chameleon color, gray to green with different light.

Thanks friend. I'm still trying different combinations with this one, the green comes out in filtered (cloudy) light. Need some new burgundy pocket squares too.

Sunbody Outlaw this morning.
I like this shape. Is this one a "heavy" straw. I felt one at Mike Miller's and thought it was really thick.

Back under the Palmoro this morning.

Not sure how long any hat will be useful with the humidity here today. The air is too thick to inhale.

I think a bit of a bike ride and then hibernate in the AC until the storms hit.

Michael
We are going up into the 90s again today (after a weekend of felt coolness) so back to straw this afternoon. Of course, we don't have anything near the humidity you guys have on the other side of the Rocky Mountains, a blessing of the Pacific Ocean I guess. I think this Palmoro is a showy straw, those portholes really draw the eye.
